"historical" episodes of The Vampire Diaries?

Okay I gave The Vampire Diaries a shot. Loved Ian Sommerhalder, but that's pretty much it, not enough to hold my interest or keep my finger off the fast forward button when the emo "teens" who look like they're at least 25 start whining again...that's what kills all CW shows for me.

But I found the tidbits about the town's (and vamps') history intriguing. Are there certain episodes that delve more into this? Any flashbacks with everyone in 19th C costumes?

I like Bonnie quite a bit too (Of course, her Grand Mother played by Jasmine Guy). And there are several older characters I enjoy. I even like Nina Dobrev's (Elena) other character Katherine quite a bit. But, yea, Elena and Stephan are probably the weakest points of the series

Yea, there's several episodes that focus alot on the old days, though, I can't recite them for you
 
I don't remember...there are a few in S1 and some more in S2...just watch all the episodes. :p
 
This show isn't something you can watch an episode every once in a while. Like LOST, you gotta watch the whole thing to get the full story. ;)
 
I don't want to spoil too much but Damon & Alaric are golden together. :)
 
I think they need an actual vampire hunter...Alaric was one but not to the extreme of lets say a Buffy type character.
 
They need a vampire hunter who's immune to Ian's dazzling eyes! :rommie:

Too bad I kinda messed up taping S2 and missed a couple eps, but I'll make do with what I got.

No one is immune to Ian's dazzling eyes. :p

And cwtv.com should have a few eps of S2 still on their site - I think they usually keep the latest four or five.

And while the Damon/Alaric stuff is fun, you might enjoy Daniel Gillies character who is intro'd in S2 and just gets better and better with each ep - including yes, historical flashbacks! :)
 
OK I'll just netflix all the S1 eps and zoom thru them, skipping the painful teen angst/whining stuff. The Stefan/Elena romance is also pretty dull, and Elena is just a totally uninteresting character, which should be a fatal problem, since that's the focus of the show but I'll make the best of it. The story doesn't move all that fast anyway, I can keep up with it pretty well on fast forward.
 
How many episodes did you watch so far? I ask because there's less teenage angst after episode 7 or 8. Jeremy, who was a really annoying emo bitch at the start of the series, becomes a really good interesting character, the others get better too. For plot reasons it could be better if you force yourself to watch the early angst stuff, if you're still annoyed halfway through the first season, when the worst is over, you can still start fast forwarding.
Elena/Stefan will probably always be boring, but their romance is pretty easy to ignore, it's a relatively big part of the show, but not as big as it seemed to be at the start and Elena is dull, but Nina Dobrev is still one of the best parts of the series, at least when she's not playing Elena. ;)

BTW, I think episode 6 is the first to show flashbacks to the past, but it's not much at the beginning.

I've gotten up to the episode where Damon breaks out of the dungeon where they were holding him and kills another teen. Maybe Damon will clear out the whiny emo deadwood just on his own. :D I'm on Team Damon for sure.

Is Jeremy Elena's brother? I've been zapping every scene where he appears so I never caught his name.
