Are they going to release a part 2? or will they screw over everyone who got part 1 and just release a complete 6th series set? Does anyone know if the UK version blu-rays are region locked? I might import those as I like the packaging better.
TV Shows on DVD reported back in March I think that a full-season set is expected for release in either November or December. This is always subject to change but I have not heard of anything different since then.
2 Entertain and BBC Video region-lock their DVDs and Blu-rays like most companies do, so a UK import won't play unless you have a fancy machine, and the company's releases are identical anyway - meaning if there were to be no full-series set over here there wouldn't be one in the UK either.
^ Good question considering this is the first time they've gone the split-series route.
I'll be pretty pissed if they don't do a 6.2.
Again according to TV Shows on DVD, the 6.2 set will be released after the second half airs, probably at the same time or soon before the full-season set. Think to early 2010 and how 2 Entertain released the Waters of Mars/End of Time specials by themselves on the same day a full 2009 Specials box was also released.
AFAIK, no extras, but the only extras I ever look at are deleted/bonus scenes.
6.1 is supposed to include only "Monster Files" featurettes. No Christmas Carol as that was released earlier. The full-season set is expected to have the usual full slate - Confidential cutdown, deleted scenes, etc.
However, and again this is per reports on TV Shows on DVD, the A Christmas Carol single release from earlier this year may not be completely incorporated into the full-season box. What i heard is one of the two major extras that came with that one isn't slated for inclusion: either the Confidential or the Doctor Who at the Proms concert. I think that means that for the concert you'll need to buy A Christmas Carol separately. Since even the Blu-ray was only about $15 Cdn. last I checked, that's not a big deal. And again, this could be subject to change, or they could make it a Blu-ray exclusive or something. I figure we'll know for certain by about October.
But in any event, I plan to wait till the full-season set comes out, as it will presumably include Space and Time, plus the confidentials, and there's those 13 minutes of deleted scenes from The Doctor's Wife as well to look forward to...
