Popular/anticipated films...you haven't seen yet...

For any number of reasons we can anticipate a film and yet we don't get around to seeing it for the longest time...and perhaps not even yet.

It was decades before I finally saw some classic '50's era SF and classic horror films. Ditto with mainstream films like Network, Three Days Of The Condor, The Godfather and others. More recently I finally got around to seeing The King's Speech and the True Grit remake (and thoroughly enjoyed both).

More recently I haven't yet seen Inception or Thor or Toy Story 3 yet I'm interested in all of them.


Anyone else? Any films you've anticipated, but haven't gotten around to yet?

Toy Story 3 is one that i was really keen on seeing and never got around to watching. still haven't had time to sit down and watch it yet. also, Black Swan. was looking forward to seeing it, missed out on seeing it in theaters. i have the dvd, but just keep forgetting to watch it.

Inception is the biggest recent one I haven't seen yet, though it's waiting patiently on my hard drive...

Yeah, that's it. Gotta see that one.

District 9. Still in the plastic-but I really want to see it. Small children foil the best of plans....

I never did see E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.

ETA: I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter movies, either. Or read any of the books. I'm just not interested, for some reason.

^I haven't seen the movies but that's because I want to read the books first, though they're low on the priority scale.

I have yet to see any of the Mad Max movies, even though they look like they'd be pretty cool.

I also hear good things about Brazil, but haven't gotten around to it yet either.

And of course there are a TON of other great non-scifi ones I still need to catch up on (Bull Durham, The Deer Hunter, Annie Hall, Raging Bull, On the Waterfront.....)

I've never seen Raging Bull, Network, Bridge Over The River Kwai, Dr. Zhivago or Good Fellas. Only seen the first hour or so of Lawrence of Arabia. Never bothered to see Titanic or Avatar, but I really didn't have any interest in either.

And someday, I've got to watch some of this Star Trek that everyone on here keeps talking about.

I missed Thor at our local cinema so I'll have to wait for it on dvd. Green Lantern is now playing there, but I refuse to pay a premium to see it in 3D so I'll probably have to wait for it on dvd as well.

Oh, well... I'll add Transformers to the list - haven't seen the second one, and have seen *most* of the first one, but not in the right order...

I feel fortunate/blessed I got to see a lot of classic cinema at college/work, and we still get quite a few shown on TV here. But like a few people here I still haven't seen District 9. (Decided to give Green Hornet a miss...)

I'm not a huge sequel guy. I've only seen bits and pieces of the follow-ups to Raiders Of The Lost Ark, for example. One X-Men movie was enough for me (I liked the original quite a bit).

You've got that right. And I thought much the same when I first saw it about five years ago.

To be fair, I think people tend to underestimate the relevancy of the film in 1976. To quote Sidney Lumet...

To me and Paddy, it wasn’t satire at all, it was sheer reportage. Everything you saw in Network had happened to either Paddy or myself—except for the shooting of [spoiler redacted].

As far as films I haven't seen, I've never sat through all of Gone with the Wind or The Birth of a Nation. I'll probably see the former before I see the latter, but for similar reasons, I have little interest in either.

^^That's why I added "may have been" lol... I do know that Fay's character was supposedly a dead-on ringer for a vp everyone in the industry knew.

I actually like GWTW, but strictly as a guilty pleasure and old-school movie love. As someone with 2 1/2 history degrees it is a travesty and an abomination, but it's still fun lol. Every time I see it I feel less sorry for Scarlett, so it's fun to root for her to fail.
