Yeah, the casting is one of the cheerful things about this.
Wonder to what extent the DC Comics folks are coordinating their reboot with this movie? The fact that Warners is going to spend money advertising and promoting the "New DC Universe" suggests that they're looking for some synergy here.

^ Same as they always do. They always modify the comics to comport with the movies or tv shows. That's why Wonder Woman is wearing that silly new outfit. Since the tv show wasn't picked up, she'll be back in her old duds in a year or two.

The silly old costume was also in the pilot.
Since no one much wants her to wear those silly old granny panties there's no reason to think they'll return to them. Times change.
There's always the option of the star-spangled crotch floss she's sported now and again.
They actually change up the costume so much that they've probably been every different cut and substituted with a miniskirt a couple of times as well. Lynda Carter's fit like she was wearing Depends.

I wouldn't say embarrassed so much as trying hard to put on a performance.
And it's because Reeve and Cain approached the role differently. Reeve played it as Superman is the person and Clark is the mask. Cain played it as Clark is the person and Superman is the mask.
I've been hearing chatter about more casting news coming down the line soon. Can't say the characters though...
Still hoping for Lex, Mercy Graves, Perry White and other Daily Planet alumni.
None of those characters were mentioned in the chatter. The ones I heard about were all more Krytonians and one Coluan 
Would Braniac be CGI with a voice talent? Or actor in prosthetics and makeup? Maybe they'll go the Sinestro approach.
