UKTV Replacing Dave Ja Vu with Really on Freeview

Looks like UKTV are wanting a female orientated channel to compliment Dave's Male channel.

From C21 Media

Lifestyle channel Really will become UKTV's third free-to-air network when it launches on digital terrestrial platform Freeview this summer.

Currently only available on pay-TV providers Sky and Virgin Media, Really will join stablemates Dave, UKTV's entertainment channel, and factual content-led Yesterday on Freeview.

Female-skewing Really, which launched May 2009, will replace catch-up channel Dave Ja Vu from August 2, broadcasting from 08.00 to 02.00 every day.

Clare Laycock, interim director of lifestyle and channel head of Really and Home, said its schedule would be packed with "guilty TV pleasures," including US imports such as Tool Academy and Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew. UK content will include BBC3 titles Snog, Marry, Avoid and Bizarre ER.

She added: "There is so much untapped potential with this channel and with a more prominent shop window to show off our wares, we'll be looking to maximise Really's potential."

Don't know about anyone else but I'd rather see Watch, GOLD or even Alibi there, but at least it's another proper channel on freeview and not a shopping channel or a dial-a-wank channel.

Oh that's just great... a friend of mine is going to be impossible to get away from the TV now, based on that programme line-up.

I'd still like to know what they're planning on doing with the vacant Channel One slot.

Sky are using it for Challenge TV already.

On Freeview? Everytime I check it there's just a black screen with no information available on the EPG.

Have you rescanned your channels? Because they replaced it with Challenge months ago, it's not the same number so it won't be the same place.

Now you come to mention it, I haven't rescanned in quite a while. I barely watch TV anymore anyway, so I haven't thought to bother. Might do it now actually and see what I get.

Loads of naff stuff and a couple of alright things.

I got a shitload of pay-to-wank channels, Movies4Men, and some other shit that I'll never watch. Ah well, at least I'm up to date.

Movies4Men? When did that show up? Yeah there's a load of dial-a-wank channels, wish they'd get rid of all that shite and put decent stuff on. Or even get rid of the shite and increase the picture quality on the decent channels.

Your guess is as good as mine mate. Looks like it specialises in made-for-TV and DTV sci-fi, action and drama films. I looked at the listings for the next week, and there's some cheesy looking shite on. Could be good for a chuckle.

There's a Conan film that I've never heard of (part of the Conan TV series maybe?) on tonight, followed by two Dolph Lundgren films (a John Woo action film, and a time travel film). I think this channel may have just raided a bargain bin at Asda for content.

Sounds like a channel my dad would love.

Some of the sci-fi films its showing over the next week sound pretty interesting, it's just a shame they'll be badly acted with shit effects. Still, I bet they're worth giving the armchair MST3K treatment to.

That'd be something you could hire Charlie Brooker to do, come and watch them with you.

My housemate and a crate of Fosters would probably be cheaper.
