I remember rolling my eyes at that line. Sigh. I hated what they did with Jean and Scott in the third movie but that was the least of it's flaws. I can't even admit to it being a fun, brainless popcorn movie because I honestly wasn't entertained by it at all. The only other time that I've seen the film as JacksonArcher knows...is to listen to the pompous and ego tripping audio commentary from Ratner, and Penn.

The film has some decent moments. It's just such a huge letdown from X2. Fortunately X-Men: First Class has given us a good X-Men movie again. I can sleep soundly now.

Wow, I can tell you're gonna be fun to argue with.

Note that I said "killing off characters for no good reason." Cyclops died because James Marsden was busy doing other thing. That, in my mind, is not a good reason.

I never said the cure plot was nonsense. The idea of it is just fine. I simply thought the story was very poorly told.

And for the record, I thought First Classwas shit, too. The Last Stand made me angry because it had such awesome potential with the way X2 left off. First Class was a boring story about characters I don't give a shit about.

Was The Last Stand a decent action flick? Maybe. But I didn't see it for action. I saw it because I wanted a good X-Men story. It didn't deliver, and it ruined a lot of character development from the first two movies.

Being that everything is so quiet on the actors, studio, producer and director's points, I am guessing a sequel to this dreadful movie ain't happening any time soon. Superman Returns all over again.

^ I guess you've missed the interviews where Singer and Vaughn both talked about their ideas for a sequel then. That said, as I stated in the other thread I don't think we will hear anything soon. Probably not until later in the year after the DVD release happens.

Singer talked about his ideas for a S:R sequel too, and Supes is getting rebooted. Again.

That wasn't the point. You stated that you said things were "quiet" from the actors and directors. I also believe that McAvoy stated he would return for another one. Just because there isn't an immediate announcement from Fox doesn't mean there isn't one forthcoming.

Okay, another reason the box office isn't doing that well perhaps, The soundtrack isn't coming out for another month, really?

I thought it was this Tuesday, but Amazon says July 12. Why wait a month to have something in stores with displays for your one damn tie-in? Hubbard, this music has been stuck in my head for days!

^ The score has been out since the start of the month.

You mean the downloads from Amazon? I thought it was out before, then I thought it was June 12. Why does Amazon say pre order only? I was going to hit some stores and pick it up tomorrow. I'll have to look.

But really, oh for a t-shirt! I'm going to have to behead a Magneto minimate for my Christmas ornament!

ETA: For those debating The Last Stand. There are a few comments about it here in the Top 10 Cinematic X-Men moments.

Yeah, because insinuating that anyone who liked TLS is a moron whose opinion can't be taken seriously makes you so much better.

To be honest, I didn't hate X3 either. It was nowhere near as good as the first two, but for a movie about a bunch of funny cartoon characters with all kinds of fabulous superpowers, it really wasn't THAT bad.

Wolverine was absolutely fucking awful, borderline unwatchable, but still, I'd rather have Darren Aronofsky make his standalone Wolverine "not a sequel" movie, than watch a sequel to First Class.

What excited me most about Aronofsky's involvement was the potential of him executing Chris McQuarrie's script (which from the little tid bits I've read about is extremely good). That and Chris Mansell scoring the movie. I still am interested in "The Wolverine" based on the McQuarrie script alone, just not as much as I was when Darren was attached.

So, was Darwin a regular character in the comics? If so, it seemed a shame that the movie killed him off five minutes after he was recruited, before he got to do anything super-heroic.

I was insinuating that because he said he liked Wolverine. :p

He did do something heroic though. He tried to save Angel, but she ended up leaving anyways.

The general public seemed to like X3 and Wolverine.
Didn't they sell well on DVD?
It seems mostly those that read the comics are the ones that didn't like it.
IMO what has done this film in, is that it lacks all the elements from the comic and the films that made the X-Men great. Instead it goes for a gimmick with IMO brought the X-Men comic down, it's more about who the villain is and cool powers than the cause.

No comic knowledge at all here, thought X3 was decent, but, thought Wolverine was awful. Never saw it in the theaters, bought the DVD, and gve it away as soon as I finished watching the movie. Knew nothing of anyone else's dislike for the film when I decided I disliked it.

I think it's safe to say that people's perceptions of the X-films are all subjective. I personally didn't like The Last Stand, and Wolverine was just "okay" for me. Yet some thought they were excellent. I feel First Class is the best of the series, but others think it's just average.

Yes can we all just agree to disagree now?

Some people like it, some people don't.
