The Phase II Enterprise

Kamdan

Did anyone watch Hollywood Treasures that showed that the mold for the Phase II Enterprise is in an garage somewhere?

Since when was Hollywood about art and not about money and power? Art is meaningless and valueless to such things as money and power. To the victors, it's garbage just like TOS.

I saw it. Pretty cool. Still, it wasn't a finished production model. It looked about as complete as they got before switching gears for TMP.

Ralph McQuarry's designs holds up. He was after all a designer on Star Wars but onxe again even credentials like that are meaningless to the people in power with money. Rich and powerful people are usually not compatable and amendable to other people's artistic integity and subjective aesthetics no matter how talented they are or what ever credentials they have. Now do you understand why that design had to be necessarily negated even though it was the best.

I like how those guys appraised it and he told them that he wasn't gonna sell it. Now that he knows the price, he'll probably sell it for himself. More power to him, because I HATE those guys on the show.

It wasn't in a garage, it was sloppy storage for the company. Its not a really interesting model. I wouldn't pay $20 for it.

For those of us who didn't see the episode, would somebody please clarify which design we're talking about, (Phase II,'Titans',?) and whether it's the mold or the model itself, or both???

This one. They ad the molds for it and were saying it could sell for 100 grand. HA! It sure looked like a garage to me, Rama.

The design the OP is referring to was the Phase II enterprise as redesigned by MJ and Joe Jennings. The McQuarrie designs were conceived for the aborted Planet of the Titans movie.
As far as the rest of your rant. Check your facts. They are wrong.

Ah, thanks. So it was the Phase II after all. I remember pics of the molds in an old "Enterprise Incidence" magazine; so that's what happened to them. Too bad the original model was "finished" by trying to make it look too much like TMP version, but that’s another story.

Nah, they said it would sell for $10,000-15,000. The guy from the company guessed it would be $100,000 that's probably why he didn't want to sell it. I'm not sure that's the "original" model seen in this picture, I heard the Phase II Enterprise had been restored.

Now I recall the name! Its "Brick Price Miniatures". They must have changed the name to "Wonderworks, Inc".

I'm one of the minority who, while finding it somewhat interesting, I've never really cared for the Phase II design. It doesn't have the original design's grace and it looks like only a basic concept compared to the TMP refit we eventually got.

The refit isn't perfect, but it's far better than the Phase II design, and with all due respect to MJ.

Nope, they just fucked it up to look a little bit like the ST:TMP Enterprise.

This is a really interesting model. I like this design a lot.

With the saucer remaining largely untouched, it does make for a more believable refit.

Just figure they swapped out everything from the neck down...

These are probably old-hat, but worth showing again.

Note that you can see the windows on the mold here.
