Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

The level of online griping about a thing is in inverse proportion to how much actual information there is about it.
Not true. The griping is a constant irrespective of the amount of information, and continues unabated after the show starts and after it is cancelled for many years if not eons.

If people were watching this show and had actual facts to base their opinions on, it would narrow the range of discussion considerably and people would have a lot less to say.
You must be new here. :rommie:

Just think, we've gotten to 66 pages full of discussion of an unaired pilot that no-one has seen. Imagine how much we'd all bitch and fight if this has gone to a full season, or multiple seasons!

It wouldn't scale up. The level of online griping about a thing is in inverse proportion to how much actual information there is about it. In the absence of data, the imagination runs rampant and people fill the void from their own bottomless reservoirs of fears, hangups, or hopes. If people were watching this show and had actual facts to base their opinions on, it would narrow the range of discussion considerably and people would have a lot less to say.

So, any possibility of the pilot being leaked? I'm curious to see how it turned out.

The website "Topless Robot" has posted a really scathing review of the pilot, which their reviewer obtained. Apparently the actress was good, and that's just about the only thing he found appealing about the pilot.

His description of a fight scene in which WW kills a man in cold blood is rather shocking. This isn't a Maxwell Lord scenario, either. It's the same violation of tone that made the animated WW film of a few years ago (in which WW acts more like a Jane Bond in a couple of scenes than a superhero) a bit of a disappointment.

Though by reading that review a questionable act by WW (one of several - I didn't mention the torture sequence) is the least of the pilot's worries.

I still want to see it out of curiosity, but unless they planned to do a "Second episode reboot" like some shows have done, I probably wouldn't have cared for it had it gone to air. (To be fair, however, much as ABC forced "Good Christian B**ches" to change its title, and there have been countless cases of shows being required to change cast members after the pilot, there's no guarantee things like throwing a pipe through a guy's neck or torturing a man for info - while a police officer stands by and does nothing to intervene, yet - would have ever actually made it on to NBC had the bought the show.)

Interesting, but I'd like to see the actual pilot for myself someday. Nice to know Adrianne Palicki was good in it anyway. Maybe she'll get another shot someday in something less embarrassing.

Ay caramba, the writing sounds bad enough to qualify as a crime against humanity:

Want to make sure the audience knows Veronica Cale is evil? Have her sell her drugs to a young, bright-eyed high school football star from a noble, improved black family in the ghetto, with a single mother and lots of sister, and have his eyeballs bleed the moment he gets his college acceptance letter with the whole family excited because he's obviously the first person in the family to go. Want to make sure the audience knows Wonder Woman is good? Have all the employees of Themyscira Industries waiting for her when she returns from her assault on Cale's warehouse so they can applaud her -- even though it's probably midnight and no employee would ever stay that late to make the CEO feel good about herself and never mind the fact that illegally broke into a building a murdered a man who was technically doing his job. Want to make sure the audience knows Wonder Woman is lonely and tortured? Have the show end with her updating her Diana Prince Facebook page, and LISTING HER CAT AND ONLY HER CAT UNDER THE FRIENDS SECTION.

We may have missed out on a comic masterpiece there. :guffaw:

I watched the first 11 episodes of the flash the day before yesterday, and i watched the first dozen episodes of the Time Tunnel yesterday... Today, I ain't afraid of anything.

You say (the quote said) no CEO would do that?

Why am I thinking Howard Hughes?

Can you picture the episode of Wonder Woman where she agrees only to fight evil on sheets of toilet paper between collecting (rescuing) her own urine in pickle jars?

Considering Howard used to have sex with Batgirl (Yvonne Craig.), it wouldn't have been too unusual for him to dress up as Wonder Woman before they did it in his hermetically sealed love bubble.

I think Captain America said it best.

"I like punching Hitler."

Start the show with a pretty post human goddess decking hitler, skip ahead to modern day and you discover that she's immortal forever youthful and Hitler is still alive being tortured daily.

It got Adam Sandler a laugh in Little Nikki.

Making a good Wonder Woman series is pretty easy. It's something no exec should be able to screw up, just five simple steps.

Step 1: Put Gail Simone in charge.

Step 2: There are no other steps.

It isn't remotely difficult.

Ironical as it sounds, Gail is a little too girly. Her birds of Prey kicks ass, but she never put much backbone into Wonder Woman compared to what she was doing with the Secret Six.

It's like Gail was writing Wonder Woman with one hand tied behind her back because she couldn't break or stain the character in any permanent way.

I just read Simone's run on WW and it didn't blow me away. Of course, I don't know if I've ever read a GOOD run on WW in my limited experience.

If such run-of-the mill bloggers as Rob Bricken of Topless Robot can get their hands on a copy, it's only a matter of time before it reaches the rest of us.

I was interested to see that the costume Palicki would have worn is more or less the outfit they're going with for WW in the DC Comics Reboot. :techman:

Wow this thread keeps trucking along despite not having anything to talk about. A couple of people that got to see pilot screenings said that WW was atrocious. I doubt we will see this in any form other than it being leaked on youtube.

There's very little difference between Clark fucking a monkey and Clark fucking Lois Lane.

Ford Prefect from Hitchikers Guide the Galaxy probably got down with some of the locals before he figured out that automobiles were not the dominant life form on earth.
