The new Post Your Desktop thread

My latest desktop wallpaper:

This was my desktop for a few weeks, but then I realized that outside the center of the portrait, the buildings were just repetitions of one another and found it too visually distracting to keep.

I switched to this in lieu of anything better: Asimov is my favorite author and it makes me laugh. Still, I remember seeing an EXCELLENT desktop-worthy picture and saving it, but I can't remember where it is. 'Til then, the good doctor reigns.

I've been waxing nostalgic, and decided to use one of my Chicago Trek Con 2010 pictures as my wallpaper. This is one from Christopher Lloyd's Q&A:

Not to sound totally uncultured, but to sound totally uncultured, what is that painting and by whom?

Got a second, albeit smaller, monitor the other day. its more pronounced this way. ordinarily, you really don't notice.[/QUOTE]

Uhm, yeah. As i wrote, i bought a new screen the other day. So i'm now running a 22" Philips 1680x1050 and a 19" LG Flatron 1440x900 (one helluva screen i might add.) all powered by a Radeon HD6970.

And yeah, i'm getting another Flatron in a few days. Dual screen is for pussies. real men run triple.

I really don't like the LG Flatron I got last year (W2240).

Sometimes it just doesn't look like it's displaying things well. And I see some weird discoloration at times.

My "Enterprise at Titan" wallpaper looks grainy, even though it comes right from a blu-ray screenshot. Yet the Amy Pond one looks beautiful (in so may ways).

Plus the lack of being able to raise & lower it means I have it on a stack of phone books to get the proper height.

Sweet, thanks M'Sharak!

:) Don't feel too bad: I recognized the painting, but I've never heard of the artist.

I love that kind of work. I love rainy type artworks anyway, but that one has a lot of atmosphere and I can't help but stare at it and notice every detail.

Well, I don't have anything bad to say about my L194WT. I had some issues with it flickering, but that ended up being a faulty VGA cable. Now that I replaced it, the screen runs fine.

I ended up putting two crappy dvd's underneath, to raise it a bit. But since none of my other screens can be lowered or raised, its not a big deal for me. I've gotten used to it.

The only thing I hate about dual/triple monitor setups is that its so damn hard to find any decent wallpapers. My current one is good enough, but its still a bit blurred. And that annoys the hell out of me. I think I'm just gonna stick to a solid color like they do in school. Then again, try finding a wallpaper for six monitors...
