For the first time in Trek gaming history, players will be able to step into the shoes of Kirk and Spock, working together to save the galaxy from a "legendary alien race". The story is a continuation of the 2009 film, so expect to see the likenesses of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto instead of Shatner and Nimoy. I'm fine with that. Judging by the game's description of action-packed combat and the initial screenshot, the latter pair would have looked terribly out-of-place here anyway.
Star Trek features a brand new story written by God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk, overseen by movie writers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, so expect a compelling narrative that closely follows the fiction of the new film franchise.

It seems to me that Star Trek is moving beyond the "only what you see on screen is canon" and on to "whatever TPTB say is canon is canon".

I like the idea of an ST game being canon a lot.

i wonder if the alien menace will be a known species or not.

For the first time in years, I'm excited about a Trek game.

I'm reserving the whole extent of my anticipation until we get another look, though.

Nice! Although given the recent spate of horrible Trek games (Star Trek: Legacy sounded awesome until I actually played it) I'm reserving judgment until I actually see it.

I'm hoping they add some sort of depth to the game's story. In most Star Trek games that I've played, the plot is pretty lame and/or extremely similar to many other games. Don't let the lack of interesting characters hit you on the way out.

If it's something like Knights of the Old Republic 2-level storytelling, I'll be more interested. Same goes for complete lack of story. But if there's going to be a story, I hope they pull out all the stops.

It'll be nice to play as a main Star Trek character again; I think the last time you could do that was in DS9's The Fallen.

I think this looks great! Though there has only been 1 ingame pic and this concept art thus far

As for Spocks weapon it looks like a kind of new dual-phaser or maybe its just a captured alien weapon. Looks cool anyway.

I look forward to the footage from E3.
