What is your favourite sport?

There is no other sport on Earth that can compare to the thrill that is watching Horse-racing..... particularly Steeplechasing

(no idea how to embed a video to this site)

That video just shows a fraction of the excitement (and sometimes heartache) of this sport

And not only have you got the horses to follow, you've also got the amazingly talented Jockeys and Trainers to follow.

Other than the Triple Crown, I really can't get into horse racing unfortunately. Is it something that you could really like if you have money on it. Does seem like a lot of people who like horseracing put money on it, which adds to the excitement.

I never bet on horse-racing. The excitement for me is the following of certain horses, trainers and jockeys.
For me, there's more excitement in steeplechasing (jump-racing) and there is never a more exciting time than March-April when the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree (Grand National) is on.

This year, when I watched Big Buck's (Horse) win not only the World Hurdle at Cheltenham, but also going on to win Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree.... I can't even begin to describe my excitement.

^^^ That's Big Buck's win at Cheltenham, making history as the first horse to ever win the World Hurdle 3 times in a row. Ridden by Ruby Walsh (my favourite Jockey) and trained by Paul Nicholls (my favourite trainer)

^^^ And that's a video of the 2009 Cheltenham Festival. One of the best festivals for me ever!

When you talk about the Triple Crown which are you referring to?
'Cause if you're referring to one of the flat-racing Triple Crowns it wouldn't be as exciting to me anyway

I thought when it came to Horses, there was only one Triple Crown: Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and The Belmont. I guess I just don't follow Steeplechasing at all.

Ahhhh... that's the problem right there. You only seem to know about American horse-racing, which I've never been able to get into. Makes sense as you are from America, but that's the reason you must have no clue what I'm talking about.

The Triple Crown of flat-racing originated in England with the 2,000 Guineas Stakes, the Epsom Derby and the St Leger's Stakes.

Steeplechasing (more often known as the National Hunt over here) is a far bigger deal in England and Ireland than it is in America as far as I can tell.

1. National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (there's a hell of a lot more strategy involved than most think)
2. Baseball
3. Hockey (though I don't really like to watch this on TV)

Football. The one with the round ball where you actually use your feet instead of throwing the ball around. No, I won't use the "S" word.
Why not? You folks are the ones who came up with it.

Yes, but the yanks co-opted it in order to differentiate between actual Football and the misleadingly named American Football.
I hope you know that "football" is called "foot" ball because it is played on foot (as a peasant game), as opposed to on a horse (like a noble's game), and not becuase it is played with the foot.

Therefore American Gridiron Football is perfectly within its rights to be called "football".

I loved to play football in my teens and 20s. I discovered in the Army that I was damned good at Volleyball and had a damned good serve.

My newest joy though is competitive action shooting. I look at it like golf (which I enjoy) but with explosions. Its been 15 years since I have done anything like this. Scoring is based on time with time penalties for shots not placed in the exact place where it is supposed to be. Its a pretty cardio intensive sport, but other than my knees it doesn't put too much stress on the rest of my body.

Watching? Football (college then the NFL) and Hockey. Golf and Baseball I watch when I want to veg out.

To play or to watch?

I like to play Football Cricket Tennis and Basketball as well as Run Track. I can ride a pretty mean BMX too.

My sport of choice often times is anything that will tire out my two insane dogs so I can get some peace and quiet.

As a teenager, I loved baseball above all other sports. NFL football was always a second favorite but in recent years, NFL has taken precedence.

However, since 2006 I've become highly enthusiastic over (world) Football ("Soccer") and now like it more than any other game out there. I love the international enthusiasm and there's just something about it that interests me the most.

I'm one of those typical Americans that only gets into soccer if it's the world cup or some other big international tournament we send a team to.
