Oh. Never having seen those films, I guess that explains it.

Logan's Run was the most god-awful film I've ever seen. It spent too much time on being a Big Damn Spectacle with people exploding into fireworks- which broke the immersion for me even more than going "ugh" and falling over without a drop of blood, random special effects that served no purpose (why did a bunch of red smoke suddenly appear when Francis broke his glass of not-liquor?), and all sorts of terrible acting. If they do a remake, they're gonna have to take it down several notches.
He could play the crazy old guy living in the ruins of Washington DC!

If they go by the books then the world is not Post Apocalypse. It's the normal world with billions of people only they kill you at 21.
I hope executions at 21 is a typo - shouldn't it be 31 or is Hollywood now so obsessed with youth that 31 is too old for them? A society that executed its citizens at age 21 would be doomed - they would have only a scant few years to produce children and nobody to raise them!
In the book it was 21 (twenty-one). It was I think mostly allegorical, in that it is a common belief held by youth, perhaps in every generation, that becoming an adult, losing one's youth, and/or turning into a Herbert is a bad thing, but also only half-joking when it came to the issue of population control.
You could make it work. The older kids take care of the younger kids, perhaps supervised by robot nannies, until they're old enough to be released from the nurseries at sixteen. They then get to enjoy five years of nonstop hedonism, with no responsiblities and all their needs provided for until they turn 21 and are considered obsolete. New infants are produced in test tubes.

I watched Logan's Run with my wife for the first time last year and even she would agree with you. She commented on how great her boobs were!

The original has its moments, but I'm all for a remake... As long as Leo's not attached (which, thankfully, he's not)... I've never gotten over my dislike for him.. Inception was a good movie, but he wasn't the best part of it.. Shutter Island could have been a good movie, but I found his acting very cookie cutter..
