Bring them Back! Moffat Style..

The Timeys being out of the picture and the "fairy tale" tone/style are two completely different issues. You could easily bring them back and have them be equated with the Elven Court, or whatever just as fairy-tale-ish. Or you could be as dark and gritty without having them in it.

The simple fact is they're gone because, really, they have to be out of the way for the sake of the Doctor's character and their own importance. They demean the Doctor's uniqueness and their own mythological status every time they actually appeared in the original series (and remember they first appear almost seven years into the show - which doesn't need them.)

I would like to see more of the timewar. Maybe have omega(there's one timelord who isn't timelocked!) or someone throw him into it for a short arc.

Beg all you like, on-screen rather than books aimed at chronics, they get a one-line mention.

Agreed. It's just like Trek and Star Wars, books etc add to the overall picture, but would be easily trampled underfoot by anything the show-runners put on-screen.

We know for sure the CIA were involved by name once, but given the general disinterest Timelords showed for the universe outside Gallifrey it's usually taken as read that any time The Doctor was used as a pawn, it would be the CIA pulling the strings.

However the level of detail on the CIA in the Wiki, as detailed as it is, of course is pure speculation.

That could be cool. Alternatively, a one-off foray into Gallifrey's ancient history might be nice. As long as they're kept largely under lock and key at the end, it's all good.

I have mentioned before that I would love a novel on the Time War, particularly if it was written by RTD if he was interested in finally telling the tale.

Honestly I don't see what the fuss is all about.. Moffat is pretty emphatic that he likes to use concepts and ideas that are generally touted in the novels, and side stories. The "Doctor's Wife" is a prime example, with the whole Transgendered Time Lord regeneration capabilities..so if that came from mention in novels off and on, then why not the CIA?

It is not like they would have to bring back the whole of Gallifrey, like someone else mentioned here.. a story centered around a core group of CIA operatives who set out to preserve the Time Lord race would be just fine. The Daleks had an out with their cult of Skaro..If they brought the CIA in, Why would that diminish the Doctor? In my view he would have the same authority and run of the universe he always has..and not to mention the reflection of his journey would be centered around rebuilding his race, or acting as a leader in such capacity. Similar to the recent JJ Abrams produced Star Trek, in where Spock considers himself and his people an endanged species..

the CIA would be the perfect choice for an out for new time lords to emerge in the current storyline, and would be great for a few flashback moments from the time war..small as they would be.

not to mention the fact that on occasion the CIA cult or refugees could infact help the doctor with a major problem, or could ask him to take on missions they themselves are unable to due to the fact of their wish to remain secret..

either way, it brings about new ways to introduce other concepts from the novels should moffat decide to do so, even one like a rogue war tardis in human form that survived the war is on a death mission to skaro and could spark a universal battle once more, and the doctor begrudgingly has to hault it..even though he hates the daleks..

or something like that. I see potential....

Let's not forget, this is the man who pushed the button that ended Gallifreyan civilization. Any other Time Lords may not be 100 percent happy to see him.

Instead of being an outcast renegade, he could end up being an outcast war criminal.

^ Except for the fact that the High Council gave him the "Moment" in the first place to use under what I would assume would have been "any means necessary".

That's the only utterance of "The Moment". One of the Time Lords mentions it to Rassilon. Nothing was said about it or where it came from but I gathered that it was implied that the Council knew the Doctor had it in his possession and that he was meant to use it against the Daleks.

In "The end of time" Rassilon is having his 'cabinet meeting' where it is mentioned that the Doctor possesses the Moment and he'll use it to destroy both the Time Lords and the Daleks alike... I think that the moment is a device which allows him to side step the time lock, and using it the doctor could get to some kind of weaponry and use them to create a way to end the war killing both sides..and then he can also escape it all..

one of the women on the council says to Rassilon the Doctor has 'the moment' and says something to the effect that there's hope whilst he has it. (iirc)

that's all.

^ Yeah that's precisely what she said...are you saying we can't speculate what the Doctor did or didn't do with it just because it wasn't shown on the screen?
