Supernatural renewed for season 7

Supernatural still has the God card to play; despite some theories that "The Writer" was God (personally, I don't think so, and more think he was a prophet who ascended when his work was done).

It's a good hook, really. The ground has been laid for the characters to question the cosmology of the Supernatural universe and the point of the whole war between good, evil, humans, monsters, etc.

Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if we see an Incarnations of Immortality-type ending where the cosmos is reset, maybe even literally a new God (or no God!) takes over, and we end the story with a hopeful note that the world will actually progress to a better state.

Right now, Supernatural's universe is a very grim one without much hope in sight - it is doomed to be the battleground between immortal forces that just want to use humanity as war materials to control the higher dimensions.

However, once the God plot is resolved, that SHOULD be it. The end. There's nothing they can do to top it, or to make the quest of supernatural adventurers relevant any further.
This is similar to what I've been thinking-- that the Winchester Brothers end up being a real game changer in the relationship between Heaven, Hell and Earth. Almost as if Supernatural were the "Third Testament." I'd love to see it end that way.

You learn something new every day...I haven't watched SPN since last season and haven't seen every ep...have seen even less from the first few seasons...but I didn't know Amber Benson had been on the show...and she was in an ep a few weeks ago.

CW Promo with Amber

My point? None really. I am just glad Amber is still working. :)

Do you think the showrunners would bring back old supernatural enemies from the brother's past in S7 because they must have gone to Purtagory after their deaths and opening Purtagory would unleash them back onto the world?

Imagine the return of Yellow Eyes, Lilith, Ruby, Gordon after he was turned into a vampire, etc.

And Eve would be among them as well since she died. The more I think about it, the more I hope that's the direction they are going to go with the next season.

That was Benson's second appearance on the show. She first guest starred in a season two episode. :techman:

I liked that episode she was in from season two, but they really wasted Benson this year by bringing her back for five seconds.

Deadline.com has the press release for The CW's upcoming season. Including a reveal of upcoming details for Supernatural's season 7.

"Now, in season seven, the Winchesters will find themselves in an increasingly sinister, changing landscape, up against a new foe unlike anything they’ve ever fought. They’ll find their old tricks, weapons and hiding places all rendered useless. All they’ll have is each other. And the certainty that, like the last of the cowboy outlaws, whatever they face, they’re not going down without a fight."

Perhaps the boys end up in Purgatory, having to deal with the monsters they put there over the years?
