PSN down thread

The welcome back games might cost Sony more money then people yhink it will...
If someone with 2 or 3 accounts on his machine, created before PSN went down, doesn't have any of the games he might be able to download them all...
I have an European and an American account so i might be able to get 2 free games out of it, Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD...

I have two consoles(One i use solely as a DVT player with PlayTV), so i might be able to get my hands on the US Stardust offer on one of them.:)

I hope Jax is not overdosing on the PSN, nothing for nearly 10 hours since they got back online.....I'm starting to worry.

^ I needed sleep after my victory dance

You would assume Sony would make it so you could only have 2 games per console, must be a way really to do it am sure.

Well, that might be why they chose the games they did...
4 of the games are the same on EU and US, besides Germany, so they would'nt get too many people getting all the games...

Ok pics or it didn't happen.

Well glad you got it sorted out....just in time for this.
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/05/18/psn-online-sign-in-goes-down-password-reset-rumours-surface/

We’re getting unverified reports that a way for someone to reset your PSN password apparently given just your PSN email and your date of birth has surfaced – more information here – and the ability to sign in online via the various PlayStation.com sites has just been removed.
This does happen on other sites, although generally you tend to get an email confirmation first which you need to click to reset your password. Nyleveia are assuming there’s some tricky URL manipulation going on.
We’re not entirely sure what’s happening, but from the site linked above (which is still updating) it looks like there may be a loop-hole remaining. Nyleveia suggested PSN users should change their email addresses as well as password, but obviously with the sign-in form currently down this isn’t possible.
It does appear that this only resets your password rather than changes it.
The PlayStationEU Twitter has, in the last few minutes, said that this is maintenence due to ISPs finally sending password reset emails from when the PSN stirred back into life. The EU forums have official information on the downtime although it doesn’t mention any of the above.
Nyleveia say they’ve contacted Sony.

I really am getting sick of these hackers:scream:

^ I think Sony has pathed it already

I am having a problem with the PS3 Headset (official wireless) keeps picking up too much background noise tried it on volume settings 1-5 (discovery connection) and 3 (connected headset via cable).

Is it better to buy an unoffical wired/wireless headset ?

I got a Rocketfish bluetooth headset with my starter kit. I needed a vertical stand and it just so happened that it also included a headset. Haven't used it yet though. Maybe when I lay the smackdown on Jax ;)

^ I have the official PS3 headset and it works great for me.

Just been playing with a friend on Uncharted 2 and I can hear his TV and he can hear mine. We had our TV on low as well but the microphone kept picking up the backgrond noise This so called noise cancellation is SHITE, 360 headset was far better so might get a different headset

Looking at this now

Wired Headset

I have the official headset and a logitech USB headset...USB headset is the better option for me although not all games support this headset, i bought a USB extender cable and now i have plenty of cable and no need to recharge, although i still keep the official one for games that need the wireless headset but its a very uncomfortable bit of kit that seems to have the battery life of a copper pot with a iron rod suspended in the middle.

As for MS headsets, i have went through about 10 pairs of those, their wireless headset was just the same, £40 and it just stopped working 13 months after purchase.

But i have learned one thing since joining the console generation way back in Feb 2006..... quality control has been horrendous from both Sony and MS, i certainly wont be touching anything at launch ever again when it come to consoles from these two companies.....when you look back at the BS both companies have pulled in the last 6 years with a never ending catalogue of poor quality and poor customer care across the board...... i can assure them this monkey has learned its lesson well.

Rant over.

What games don't work with it and is your logitech one like This?

Well now it's my turn to play the waiting game. Just sent the request the email route and I'm waiting and waiting... I'm using my ISP's email, so hoping it doesn't take too long.

Edit: Oy, were you greeted by a site maintenance notice after following the link in your email, Jax? Oh, nevermind. It's due to the loophole that was discovered.

Yes thats them, and thats a good price, they cost me £25.

All games support the official wireless headset but not all support the USB headseert.

Haze.
Battlefeild Bad company.

Those are the two i had those issues with, there are a few more but i cant think of them right now, but at this stage the majority of PS3 i have got have used the usb headset without any issues, and the sound quality is just brillaint....oh and remember just like the xbox headset these are only for voice comm, not in game sound.

I use the logitech vantage USB headset on with no issues.

RE5.
LP2.
Test drive unlimited 2.
Kyne and lynch 2.
Borderland(The voice chat in borderlands is ropey at best but when it worked it work).
Uncharted 2.

Just a few off the top of my head.

Well am going to probably order that then unless someone can top it in this thread or the thread I started about my issue, TBH mods can probably close that one I just made, sorri

Don't listen to H&T, talking total rhubarb..... i bought that headset and they were rubbish......they would not hold any kind of liquids, in a fire they simply burned up and become unusable, and they cant be used as a emergence trouser waist securer.

I got this set instead and they did even thing i wanted them to do...fantastic in every way.

So I finally logged back into PSN and changed my password... now what? How do I get the "welcome back" freebies? the PSN store is down...

The store will be back up anytime between now and 31st May, so when it does come back up the welcome package should be rolled out to users.

I think anyway.
