Those establishing shots of Voyager getting work done--with people walking over the hull--were incredible. I wonder how long it took to put together those few seconds of footage? Those shots really impressed me.
On a less happy note, no Voyager tonight. After a long delay, we finally got the time to start watching again...only to find out that Disc 3 is cracked.
Do I miss anything if I skip past "Flesh and Blood," "Shattered," and "Lineage" and start watching Disc 4? It should be getting here tomorrow.
Wise man.So I guess I'll wait a day or two until I get another copy of Disc 3. I will not click that spoiler tag, as tempting as it is.
I'm not sure if anyone asked but was it a girl or a boy?Crying right now, but generally in good health.
At long last, we got time to sit down and watch an uncracked disc 3. The result was a look at the edited-together...
"Flesh and Blood"
I see from the credits that Vaughn Armstrong is in this. I have no idea who he played--I guess one of the Hirogen.
And the Hirogen are back. Yay! Though they don't have any better luck with their holodecks than the Starfleeters.
Did anyone else think that this episode would have been right up Barclay's alley?
I really liked this one. I legitimately didn't know what was going to happen along the way, and it's a big budget, action/adventure Trek episode done right. Robert Picardo did most of the heavy lifting in the acting department, with a nice assist from Roxann Dawson, who really shines. Robert Beltran seemed pretty motivated and Chakotay got some good material. I liked the scene where Chak and Tuvok confronted Janeway about working with the Hirogen.
This is the kind of call-back to a past episode that works.
Story-wise, they wrapped up a lot of stuff pretty quickly--the CMO basically betrayed the entire ship, but that was handwaved away by the Captain in a way that didn't totally satisfy me. But as an entertaining episode, it really worked.
Did anyone else think it would have been awesome to have the Hirogen engineer join the crew?
Did Chakotay shoot himself in the foot with the "there are some barriers we never cross" response? It seemed like Janeway was totally into him for a while there, until he reminded her that she wasn't.
As he said it, I said, "Dude! She totally would have done it with you! You should have just kept your mouth shut!"
I guess he was just over-awed by the power of the bun.
