And how creepy was that scene with the aged, insane Rory?

I was wondering if we would get more people moaning about the show being too dark.
Because all those kids who hid behind their sofas when the Daleks came on in 60s are now emotional wrecks.

Haven't seen the episode yet, is the snake tattoo a nod of sorts to Pertwee (Whose army tattoo is visible in some of his earlier stories)?

Actually, Old mad Rory was one of the bits that threw me out of the story. I found myself disbelieving that whatever had happened Rory would want to destroy Amy - however mad he got.

Loved the idea of the Doctor realising that the true love of his life, the woman who was always with him, who rescued him countless times and delivered him to the times and places he needed to be is actually the Tardis. My only disppointment was that in all the clips of past Doctors in Confidential we never saw Pertwee refer to the Tardis as "Old Girl" - I'm sure he did that. And it was about 85% successful in making that story, for me. So pretty good. Certainly the best ep this series.

I think the way Rory was there wasn't meant to be an actual Rory reaction, more Amy's fear of what could happen. House was playing on her fears, him being dead, him hating her for everything he's sacrificed waiting for her, etc.

Bunk Beds are cool, a bed with a ladder :guffaw: Also I wonder the like Rory, does the Doctor have a room ? does the Doctor even sleep.

I think there was a line in ep one about the Doctor trying sleeping once but did not like it.

And FINALLY they let Matt's Doctor show some bloody emotions!

He practically fell apart during his "silly old Doctor" speech to young Amy in The Big Bang.

I seriously wonder if some people actually pay attention to the show they're criticizing these days.

The scene where he realises humanity has been using the starwhale via torture, don't need to be crying for an emotional scene.

Do Timelords need sleep? I wonder if he has a Bunk Bed

There was stuff in the novels about the Doctor needing a small amount of sleep (about 3 hours a day) but being able to "catnap" in order to get it... ten minutes kip here, half-hour snooze there...

The second heart is also supposed to be why he's always full of energy...

The Eighth Doctor kept saying that sleep was for tortoises... since Ten showed that Time Lords can alter their metabolism radically enough to purge cyanide, I guess fatigue toxins wouldn't be an issue...

That too, yes. Arguably then his whole run. Which is the point I was making - he's ALWAYS emotional.

There's a track on the Series 5 album called Emotions Get The Better of Him, and despite what you might think about it referring to Bracewell, it's the music that kicks off when the Daleks get the Doctor so ANGRY he unwittingly provides their "testimony"...

This episode somehow felt very slight, but it was well-done for what it was. My favorite part, honestly, was seeing the "coral" style control room again. I like that organic design so much better than the angular TARDIS styling. The corridors looked especially bad in that regards.

The wife hated Dr Who tonight so much that she stopped the tape halfway through, thinking it was just stupid fanwank

"Are all people like this?"

"Like what?"

"So much bigger on the inside."

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. It's right up there with "Dalek," "The Girl in the Fireplace," "Human Nature/The Family of Blood," "Turn Left," and "Vincent and the Doctor" for me.

Oh, and I can't be the only one who figures the "river" in the "the only water in the forest is the river" quote is River Song, right? The rest of the quote makes me think of either "The Forest of the Dead" or that arboretum aboard the Byzantium in "Flesh and Stone."
