Pity he makes so much money from his day-job or I'd be nominating him for Showrunner.

Yeah. I'm looking forward to his take on Journey to the West.

Since he's one of my favourite comic book writers, I was pretty hyped for this, and it actually lived up to my ridiculous expectations, so hopefully he has the time/desire to do one ep a year or somesuch.

Have to say, Suranne Jones does mad and gibberish way better than Sylvester McCoy under the similar circumstances... It's amusing to be echoed, shall we say, by someone on Neil Gaiman's level!

Which reminds me, why was it called "Unregenerate!" ?

she was ALOT better than her apperance as Mona Lisa in SJA, she might even make a good female Doctor.

Looking at some of the almost religious ecstasy reactions to it, I have to say, though - it was great, but it wasn't the all-conquering, all-new reappraisal of the show's nature which popular hype had it.

Oh, certainly. It was a very workmanlike treatment of a subject dear to Who fans' hearts, but no less enjoyable for it, in the same way some Sherlock Holmes tales recycle old bits.

But the final scene when he asks if the TARDIS can hear him, no response and he says "no, silly old me.. well, then, Eye of Orion... or wherever we need to go..." and the lever moves by itself...

The Doctor and his TARDIS are off to a new adventure. A boy and his box. :)

Did anyone else notice that when the TARDIS dematerialised, the Cloister bell was tolling?

There's been a few old sound fx sneaking in, the 80s monitor was there at the end of last week.

That was probably my favourite episode since Utopia.

I even stayed awake through the whole confindental for a change!

At work, I know of several people who plan on watching tonight's episode solely for the Neil Gaiman factor. I disagree with some posters who think that Gaiman writing for Doctor Who is the Biggest Thing Ever, but I can't deny that within nerd culture Gaiman is a big name and a big draw.

I think about the only writer that fandom would be beside itself with glee at writing Who more than Gaiman would be Joss Whedon. That actually baffles me; has no one watched Alien Resurrection?

but Joss has done alot more than that, that was early in his career.

Not to come off like a Browncoat, but Firefly really is some good work, and I think Joss would write a good Doctor Who episode as well, maybe less fantastical, but he would bring some brillant characters to it.

Cloister bell has been in a few Tennant eps previously though, most noticeably Turn Left after the TARDIS gets Rose's "Bad Wolf" message. Think it was also there in The Sound of Drums when they enter the TARDIS after the Master has mutlilated it into a Paradox Machine.

I think just because it was meant to be right after his first story. ISTR Gary Russell actually came up with the title, though, cos I'm famously rubbish at thinking up titles...

Wasnt the Cloister bell also in Time Crash?

Was nice to see the inside of the TARDIS, even if it was only the corridors, discussion of sleeping arrangements amusing, but really its just all about the Doctor & the TARDIS in this episode, Matt Smith plays it so well, when its just him and the set, I really hope we see a bit more of this in the future, maybe theDoctor hears what he thinks is the voicfe of the TARDIS in his head sometimes, that kind of thing.

Intersting in this episode that the claim is the TARDIS is the Doctors wife, and she gives him a meesage seemingly about another woman who is his wife.

We heard the Cloister Bell for the first time all the way back in the three minute Tennant post-regeneration CiN mini-episode.

While not the greatest thing since sliced bread, I did quite enjoy it. Complete and utterly mad. Only thing that would have made it perfect was if they'd scrounged the budget for a classic control room.

And FINALLY they let Matt's Doctor show some bloody emotions!

It was nice to see hallways finally, but good lord, could they have made them any more ugly?

Oh, and bad Doctor! Deleting the swimming pool.

Just fantastic......loved it two bits.

And was that a little nod to the Peter Cushing movies with the whole door opening out thing.....well I'm personally going with it being so.

And did anybody else think the main distress voice from the repaired Ood ball was very McGannish.

Anyway brilliant stuff all round....top marks.

If he deleted the pool does that mean he got rid of the library.
He's turned into a Tory.
And I'm another one who would have liked to see the original control room.
