Re: So did Clark put on the suit and fly? (Smallville SPOILERS)

we get cgi superman and really close up shots of welling, plus the iconic open shirt shot, but no true shot of welling in the costume.

i'm having a real hard time figuring out what to rate this episode, gonna have to think about it, cause most of it wasn't that good, only the ending.... it def. wasn't "SUPERMAN (Excellent)" though cause most of it sucked

Lame. Talk about a tease. A CGI of Superman in costume and then fading into the comic book cover before we get too close to seeing Welling in the suit. Apokolips was a waste. the build-up to Darkseid ending up being possession of Alternate Lionel--stupid. Anti climatic not even seeing any of the battle on Apokolips. Green Arrow takes on Granny Goodness and her thugs and kills them with arrows--talk about easy. Where was Desaad, Kalibak, the troops of Parademons--you know something worthy of being called epic and fitting for the debut of Superman. Scatter shot, aimless and underwhelming best describes this.

Glad I bailed back when I did otherwise I would have sat through years of mediocre seasons to end up with abysmal finale.

Below average.

It's been a long ride getting here, but I'm glad I saw it through.

Same here. Though 90% of the finale was kinda lame, we at least got a pay-off of sorts.

I would've PREFERRED that Welling actually put on the suit and stood in it for a few seconds, instead of getting CGI Supes floating in space, but as the Stones once said, "You can't always get what you want."

;)

is there a legal reason they did not show welling in the the full suit beyond the cheap cgi? I never watch this show. John williams score of course blew away smallvilles cheap score. lol

No, Welling just didn't want to put it on cause he didn't want to be typecast

He should have just embraced it all IMO, its a great thing to play Superman and have people like you and your character

I gave it a Below Average as well. And Welling gets an F for being such a prima donna and not putting on the costume.

I gave it an "average". Not a stellar two hours, but a decent enough ending.

At least it was fun participating in the final commentary thread.

Why must they use the CGI stuff? While it was cool to see Welling as the Man of Steel finally, but I still say the two Superman films (Chris Reeve ones) have the best flying sequences ever. And no CGI or computers... it looks "fake" to me sometimes.

Wait...can someone explain the comic book? I mean it would make sense if it were called Superman...but it was called Smallville. Plus...why didn't Oliver get to be in that final scene with Chloe?

I also don't get the point of mind wiping Lex. Seriously, is no one going to tell him about his time in Smallville? Does he NEVER have any future interaction with Lois, Clark, Oliver or anyone else that knew him there? Lex would not let this suspicious bit of amnesia simply slide by.

I guess it was very true to form for the series and this season in particular but I was hoping for a little more for the big finale. I guess if the story is about the journey to Superman maybe the villanous conflicts are beside the point but then I wonder why they even bothered with them.

Congratulations, Clark, you've finally become Superman.

Except you've already defeated all of your rogues' gallery. :p

Yeah, the comic book was a bad idea, basically has the whole secret identity laid out

And wasn't a cute thing drawn for the kids of the super best friends, it even had things like the price on it...
