Your TOP TV shows 2010-2011

With the TV primetime network season virtually finished, I thought I would do another one of these threads like last year and the year before to have a look at everyone's favourite shows. Doesn't just have to be American shows but ones that aired within the the last year or so and I say we cap it as 20 though most people won't reach 20 .

I have a new number 1 with Fringe, a show I only started watching last May and caught up with over the summer and then enjoyed watching season 3 from September to May and I cannot wait for season 4.

Last year Dexter was my number 1 show taking over from Boston Legal the year before but this season while decent was just not up to past levels. I have plenty of new shows in my top 20 this year as I've started watching some oldies for the 1st time like The Daily Show, Real Time Will Bill Maher and The Colbert Report. Also new debut shows 10 O'Clock Live, Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead break into my top 20.

My list would be easy. Just put all the shows on that have been or soon will be cancelled and you'll have it. Really, really bad year for gh4chiefs in the TV viewing department.

Tv sucks--that said the only two shows I consistently enjoyed were The Vampire Diaires--#1 and Gossip Girl.

Supernatural's sixth season just confirmed it didn't need to continue past Season 5--with a slow start, weak new characters, stale writing, an aimless arc. Fringe started out well enough but about "Reciprocity" it gave us nothing but mediocre one-offs that seemed to try to justify their existence by weakly tying into the myth arc. Way to much romantic angst, the mumbo jumbo science the series was known for overdosed on it, and a weak season finale made it the show's weakest season and was enough for me to decide I'm not going to watch it next season since I also have a feeling the myth will end up a mess like these myth shows usually do.

The rest I sampled were crap or boring--V, The Event, The Borgias, Camelot, Haven, Persons Unknown, The Gates, SGU, Caprica, Chuck S4, Harry's Law, US Being Human, Desperate Housewives, Chicago Code, Nikita.

It's going to be a stretch to find 20 or even 10.

The ones on that list that are cancelled I won't miss. Those aren't my favorite series, it's just everything I watch (not counting DVDs). I'd be dropping the bottom tier anyway to make room for the new stuff in 2011-12.
