Fifty States - a Bucket List Moment

^this reminds me of the time I told someone I used to hang with, where an uncle of mine lives in New Jersey. Mind you, he was from New Jersey. However, he told me he never heard of the town my uncle lives in. So I googled both his hometown and the one my uncle lives in. Both towns are basically one or two towns over from each other, within 10 miles.

Counties are really something distinct from states. States, after all, do have counties in them. It would be kind of unrealistic for someone to visit every county in the United States, for example. So I figured it would suffice to describe general areas I've visited in the UK by pointing to the city nearby.
Counties are great, we have regions in the UK opose to counties, when it comes to law enfrocement/fire rescue/emergency services in general, also my Housing Tax/Poll Tax; I'm in a region that's called London. My borough, where I live, has a different rate 'they all vary' to another London borough.
I don't even know if I've been to all 32 London Boroughs.

Regions are a bit closer than counties. In which case, I've been to three regions:
London
Southeast England
North West
London
Southeast England
North West
I never paid any attention to the counties. I have been in and around Pittsburg, Philly and the Reading area but never driven East/West through the PA heartland.

I never got why Pittsburgh has the H, but not Harrisburg.

My guess is that the original pronunciation was probably "Pittsburough" or something, and the original spelling stuck while the pronunciation didn't.
The extra "h" stands for "hell". Because it's full of the evil.

Myself, I only need to hit the following states to finish:
North Dakota
Kansas
And (can't recall who said it up-thread), but Virginia is NOT a large state. Try Nevada or Montana... not to mention Alaska or Texas.
(Plus it's not an especially great state either to live in or drive through, but that's another story. Most folks around here know how I feel about the mid-Atlantic.)

Actually, the "H" was added later. I can't remember when though although I used to know.
