Alien Life do you believe?

We are all Trek fans but do you really believe that there is life out there?

IMO yes the universe is just to big not to have mgr elsewhere.

The same, essentially. Space is far too vast for me to take seriously the idea of alien astronauts visiting Earth, either in the past or in the future. Carl Sagan's Contact scenario is a little more realistic, though.

I say definitely. I think it would be silly to assume that we're the only place in the entire universe lucky enough to have intelligent life. I'd say that any other life is probably so far away that we'll never know, and probably so different to us as to not meet our limited definition of intelligence.
But statistically I'm sure that somewhere in the universe the fluke that created life here has created life somewhere else at some point in time.

There are too many galaxies that we can't even see. Life is out there. I believe that Intelligent life is out there too. But in our galaxy? One can dream.

Yes, I am a believer in intelligent extraterrestrial life. It's just too improbable that we're alone in the universe, or even in the galaxy. As Carl Sagan said, it would be a terrible waste of space.

Statistically it is highly probable the Universe is populated by many intelligent species. I highly doubt any of them have ever decided to visit earth, even if they had I doubt they would have been detected by moon shine swilling hillbillies. If you can travel the universe at FTL speed im fairly certain you can pass undetected by a technologically inferior species.

I do not "believe" that there is life out there in the universe. I think that, given the sheer mindblowing humongousness of the universe, the uncountable number of stars, the self-organizing properties of organic chemistry, then it's statistically possible, even probable, that somewhere, somehow, somewhen, there is some kind of alien life forms.

Belief has nothing to do with it.

It would certainly be easy to believe that there is non-intelligent alien life "out there" in the universe, animal and plant life, or something different that we don't have here on Earth.

Intelligent alien life is a separate question. Does say a technological civilization exist now, or did it come and go already? Maybe it hasn't come into it own as of yet. In the entirety of the universe the answer is yes it's there, in our immediate portion of our galaxy I believe no.

I know theres alien life out there, somewhere. There has to be. It may not be in our galaxy, but its there. The universe is so unimaginably vast, it would be silly to think that we are the only intelligent life forms.

If any alien species should stumble upon us, I'd seriously advise them to run for the hills. Run for their lives. Given the way humans treat other cultures, the super utopian Roddenberry-scenario is highly unlikely to happen. Even if the aliens are technologically superior to us, we're a race of monsters.

Oh, and yes, I'm sure there are other "intelligent" species out there. Hopefully, they're nicer than we are.

I won't count on it.

Sure, the aliens might be an hyperintelligent shade of the colour blue, in which case we might not even recognize each other's existence.

But if they are even remotely like us (i.e. heterotroph organisms), they are bound to be just as fucked as us. For good or bad, we aren't anything special. Thinking we are particularly evil compared to other lifeforms is just another instance of human exceptionalism and reverse chauvinism.
