I don't know. Looks like that set is only available as a VA. They seem to be purple Mk XI. I assume we get substitute rewards (the old ones) for lower levels.

Assume those are going to be level-appropriate, meaning if you get them as a lower-ranked player, they're basically useless once you level up, without going and doing the mission again and again?

You say that like it's a bad thing. It means you might have to do this mission arc a whole what, four, five times over the life of a character, that is assuming you want the bonus, which is pretty much geared to fighting a single faction you won't be fighting in every rank band.

And yes, that's how it works.

Just thinking of the examples from the Romulan set. Got nice stuff with my primary character, and then got Mark II stuff with my Lt character. Fun stuff to have, just would be nice if it leveled with you rather than having to throw it away and re-obtain it 4-5 times. Reman shields were great at that level, but once i hit the next level, the common shields were already better, and I'd have to replay it again to get it back.

Already enough grinding in this game as it is, without having to repeatedly grind the SAME missions over and over. Variety is nice, which is why the missions were nice the first time. Turning them into grinding missions kinda defeats that.

Still better than most of the variety in the game, I suppose. Usually limited to which type of data sample (or derelict vessel) you need to scan 5x on your way to the donut-shaped asteroid at the end of the map...

Here's why you have to give players reasons to play the same content more than once:

I spent over 20 hours creating my mission. It will take you 30-45 minutes to complete it.

Repeatable content encourages people to keep paying for the game.

Oh come on... People complain about teh Reman shield being useless with the next rank.
But then you have to complain about every gear being useless with the next rank.
The Reman shield is nothing special at all.
Granted it's a rare covariant, but that's it. The only thing unusual about it is the different skin it gives your ship.
but you can get a shield with the exact same stats in crafting a well, and on the exchange.
To be honest the scorpion fighters are much more of a special power and you have to redo The Vault a lot more often, because no matter what level you are, the supply will be used up eventually.

Was just comparing it to the other rewards, like the Borg gear, or the Aegis stuff, that stays with you. Well, Aegis does, can't say for sure about the Borg stuff, since you can't get it until you hit RA. Sure, most gear basically becomes useless at next rank, but guess I consider the 'special reward' loot to be a little more, uh, special. More disappointing when you have to throw that stuff away almost immediately. Usually binds on pickup as well, so can't sell or trade it.

Collected the Scorpion Fighters, never actually used them, so can't speak to that one :)

you should use them, they are great, well not as great as they used to be, since you can only launch 3 at a time now and have a max number of 6 out, but still a great help.

I wonder, are the transphasic damage buff from the Breen set and the rapid fire transphasic torp launcher going to make Tranphasic torpedos a viable option?

Transphasics are still sub-par on damage even with this, but the devs have said this week that transphasics are getting an across the board rebalancing soon, that will include these.

Yeah, that was a disappointment when I started getting them originally. Most powerful torpedoes in the show, but can't stack up to a mid-level Quantum torpedo in the game...

The Winner of the "Design the next Enterprise" contest has been found.
I'm not sure I agree on the design. In fact I'm sure I don't.
I can't see it as the new Enterprise.
But since it seems the sketch is used for "inspiration" it might change into something cool nonetheless.

Behold:

Just promoted my latest toon to Commander. I got a Hope-class science ship. It looks... ugly, frankly.

I'm hoping that they chose that entry because it provides them with more scope for design changes. In other words, it's got alot of room for improvement.

I'm reserving my final judgement until I see a 3D model, but for now, it seems like a strange choice to me.

They chose not to make the T5 Connie because they are spineless and afraid of the loud canon nazis in their forums.

I feel this is the dumbest thing they have done. (They have done a LOT of dumb things.)

Well, CBS doesn't want it either, and they're not done having the discussion, so let's not be too hard on them.

This - I think it was more a "CBS said no TOS era T5 ship variants"; than Cryptic worried about 'canon nazi' reaction as they get that on nearly everything they do in STO.

In that cause why on gods earth couldn't Paramount get control of the entire franchise CBS is still screwing it up.

Also I wouldn't blame Cryptic if they had just said that CBS didn't want to do it instead of saying it's beucase of controversy in the coimmunity that's just letting those pricks think their important.

Plus how the heck is a endgme Connie wrong but half the stuff the novels do okay, are they even paying attention to the books any more becuase if they aren't please tell them to continue to not becuase then thankfully some sane people besides Abrams and co. are involved in the fanchise at least so theres hope.
