I like the secondary hull, reminds of the Galaxy-class, which is my favourite Enterprise so far, and a big part of that is the deflector itself.

As we now know all the finalists I won't bother waiting for the official announcement.

As my design didn't even warrant an honorable mention, I have no compunction with sharing it, and it will soon be available for free on Turbosquid in Maya format. Eventually I'll also get it converted to Max and maybe Lightwave too.

Fuzzy, it was sad that neither of us made it to the top 25 after voting round. Your design has really grown on me. Thanks for sharing these, Hope to see more of your designs in the future. I for one would love to work on a project with you sometime in the future.

I admit to having developed a level of overconfidence after having won the public vote. It's been a long way to fall, and I'm... having difficulty envisioning a time when I'll be ready to start on a new project. I'm sure it will happen, but not soon, and not within the Trek universe. I appreciate the thought though.

Personally, I think you should move forward as soon as possible and not focus on getting robbed (because we all know that's what happened). So they picked a bunch of dubious designs (with one or two obvious exceptions) over yours for even an honorable mention...so what? You put together a bloody fantastic ship. So what if she's no Enterprise, by their estimation. Make her the new Prime Universe Excelsior (why the hell haven't we heard that name in twenty years, eh?). She's got the ample nacelles for it.

Personally, I think both Vektor and Fuzzy deserved to place somewhere in the top four (though I can't choose between them...love both designs for different reasons). What I find myself questioning are many of the other selections for honorable mention. Some of those designs are grade-A shisno.

Yeah, i'll admit. I wasnt that huge a fan of Fuzzy's to start with, and I still dislike some elements (Just the texture and Nacelles fuzzy, c'mon! :p ) It is certainly a better design than all of those. Certainly has had more thought and effort put into it.

I know I fell with you.

Who says it has to be something with in the Trek Universe. I would love to brain storm with you sometime.

And would also have been changed by the design team/CBS, judging by what is being said in this post about the winning entry: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3524149#post3524149

It seems they'll also be using the designs of some of the other ships in the contest sometime down the road if possible: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3524284#post3524284

Frankly, I hope they're just referring to the honorable mentions. Otherwise, that would feel a bit like a slap in the face, long delayed.

"Okay, so we didn't think you were good enough for the top twenty-five, but gee we sure would like to use your design as fodder for our game."

Maybe I'm just being petty, but I would find something like that very insulting.

Wow, let the bashing begin. I was told that my concept would be altered so the final design would keep the feel but it will be far more polished.

I don't think anyone has bashed you yet...not here, at least. The folks over at the STO forums are being far more petty about the outcome. A lot of us are just disappointed in the other choices made by Cryptic/CBS, especially where some local favorites are concerned. Of course, the night is young, as they say...but we're pretty civilized around here. Any bashing will be so thickly veiled it'll take a chainsaw to cut away the BS mask.

I'll add my own congratulations, while I'm at it. I appreciate your design's originality whilst staying close to the classic Enterprise pattern. I think that's what won it for you, set your design apart from the rest.

Funny thing is a lot of people are complaining that it is a rough drawing and I didn't put any thought to it (other forums) I guess I have been doing this too long, but I did exactly what I would do for any client I did a concept. Time constraints as well kept me from doing more. I contacted cryptic to see if they want more detailed drawing and they will let me know. Honestly where it goes from here is totally up to them.

I was actually just looking at it and liking that it was a rough drawing.

Rough drawing? Isn't that what concept art is supposed to be? Geez, the ignorance. Personally, I love that concept sketch look. Wish I were talented enough to have done the same. I've spent hours staring at old McQuarrie, Eaves, and Sternbach material, to name a few. If they're complaining about that...well...ignore 'em. Fools, says I. While your design would not have been my first choice (and I completely disagree with Cryptic on the merits of the lateral view...it just doesn't do it for me), I am satisfied with it, I can accept it, and I'm looking forward to seeing it as a three-dimensional model.

This picture is as much a congratulations to Ihlecreations as it is comissierations to my fellow losers. :p

Saquist, Titan Designer, I would like to apologize profusely for the haphazardly bashed together renditions of your awesome designs.

FuzzyModem, I would have loved to feature you on here too, but your Enterprise is so damned hard to wrap my head around this time of night. :P Your there in spirit.

Ihlecreations, your Enterprise is a slightly more polished rough version, again, sorry about that, but what with short notice and all. :p

EDIT: Whoops, here's the forum friendly version.

Yeah, a lot of good designs didn't even place is the main problem. And some of the ones that did almost have the look of "well, we have to pick some that was hand-drawn/kitbashed so people don't scream bloody murder about all the professional looking submissions". Not bashing the winner, just how they filled out the top 25.

I kinda love this, and I haven't even been involved in the contest!
