One-season miniseries: a better option?

I love Rome's S2; the breakneck pace is a pure thrill ride. :p

The fourth season would then shift to Palestine and focus on the birth of Christianity...

What little remains of the Christianity storyline feels forced, unnecessary and disjointed. It would have been better to just completely get rid of it.
What Christianity storyline? So the Jewish guy decides to move his family to Israel. It's a funny and appropriate denouement for his character, but doesn't have anything to do with Christianity, though I can't imagine what the writers were thinking of doing there, because all the mains would either be dead by the time Jesus gained his biggest crowds or wouldn't care.

That said, IIRC, the HBO suits have pretty much admitted that they lowballed Rome's dvd revenue, and should have kept it going a bit longer at least.

As others have said, an overall plan is more important than limiting series to an absolutely fixed number of seasons.

.

I don't know the specifics of Rome's Christianity story, but I would assume that it would have involved the Jewish guy moving back to Palestine and either he or his kids getting involved in the early days of the faith.

Switching Rome to the story of Christianity's birth would be bizarre. It would be a different series. Why not just do a different series? (I'd rather they skip the Jesus story altogether, it's a wee bit familiar at this point. :rommie:)

How about starting the story after Jesus' death and resurrection (not literally depicted in the series), with a small group of disoriented and demoralized followers wondering what to do next. That story isn't overexposed and couldn't help but be fascinating. I'd call the series A.D. - nice and simple.

No hot potatoes here. ;)

A lot of the undercover shows.

Miami Vice, everybody who met Sonny Burnett and Rico Cooper ended killed by Metro Dade PD

Wiseguy, How did anyone trust Vinnie Terranova again anyway. In the end having him spend a year in jail just to create a cover seemed wasted.

Sleeper Cell, they just should have skipped the follow up miniseries.

I do want to see more of Heat of The Sun about 1930's cop in exile to Kenya Superintendent Tyburn

Now that would a great show. Maybe follow it up until around A.D. 100, when the New Testament was finally completed.

Yeah, it'll never happen, but it's fun to think about. :D

I'd like to see a Smallville version of teen Jesus myself... before he learns not to just throw his powers around for the hell of it... :p
