Actually, I think the credit for this ought to go to General Petraeus, not to either president. I'm not sure this is something that the White House can have a lot of say in one way or the other. (I KNEW I made the right move, back in '08, to name a starship in my fanfic after the guy! )

General Petraeus gave an interview in which he hinted at the fact that Bush was a dumbass and never listened to him. It was awesome. He was asked what has changed, why is the plan now working and his replay was something like "For the last 18 months we have had the support we needed, and the planning we have needed". It was 18 months since Obama took office.

Interesting, watching word of OBL's death spread throughout the crowd at the Mets/Phillies game...I wondered why the chant of USA! USA! was starting up.

The news has just said that authorities around the world are being urged to take security precautions in light of the news of Osama's death. They are afraid that news of his death will lead to violence or terrorist acts against U.S. personnel overseas.

The USA should counter with a "hint" that if there's even the slightest retaliation, they'll return OBL's body...wrapped in pig skin.

CNN is saying bin Laden was killed in a mansion in Islamabad, Pakistan.

...not exactly a cave.

Not that it matters much now, but a NATO official said last October that Bin Laden was "living comfortably" in Pakistan.
