Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watch?

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

She could not tell what William said to Kate when she got to the alter though.

One of the entertainment shows later reported that their "lip reading expert" said William told Kate she was beautiful and then made a joke to Kate's dad saying that the wedding was supposed to be just a small family affair.

I don't know if that's correct or not, but it's funny, so I'll buy it.
William's a sweetie. But poor guy, he inherited his father's hair... or lack thereof.

As did Harry. You can tell it's starting in the back.

His father's hair? I always thought he had more hair then William. Then I found the pics below. Perhaps Charles does a better job hiding his baldness? I think his combover does a pretty good job because I never noticed he was as bad as the pic below:

Do you think William would ever shave his head? Is it proper for a future King to shave his head?

I thought that one of the the ABC commentators (don't remember who) said that they were wearing Army uniforms. They said it was a big deal because the Royal Navy is the senior British military service. Of course that comment seems out of context because because neither William or Harry are in the Royal Navy. Perhaps they were not fully explaining themselves and were trying to say that they were surprised William or Harry never joined the Royal Navy in the first place.
I don't see the big deal. Charles was wearing a Navy uniform, I believe.

I don't like the whole monarchy thing but couldn't help but give a smile when i saw will and kate at the alter and his smiled at her like that and said she was beautiful.

Charles served in the RN for quite a while so it's not surprising he prefers that service, like his father before him. William should have worn an RAF uniform to make all three services represented but his new army 'colonelship' was the highest ranking one he could wear.

Prince Philip was wearing Army uniform though...

Too bad, I would have enjoyed the slashing of the Archbishop.
I think it comes just before the Ravishing Of The Bridesmaids, but they waived that one too. Modern ceremonies. Pffft. What happened to style?

Don't know if this has been posted yet. It's pretty fun.

For Trampledamage

I watched the wedding, unexpectedly as I wasn't intenting to. I really enjoyed it and I feel quite warm towards William and Kate, not bad since they were barely on my dradis before.

^That's a lovely tradition of laying the bridal bouquet at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I'm glad that the new Duchess of Cambridge chose to uphold it.

Prince Philip was wearing Army uniform though...

Someone else where pointed out to me that Philip always seems to wear something that reflects the groom. For Princess Margaret's wedding, Philip wore a morning suit just like the groom. For Charles and Andrew's weddings, he wore a Navy uniform. For Anne's wedding, he wore an Army uniform since the groom was also an Army officer.

It is, isn't it? I didn't know anything about it until I read about it a couple of days ago. (The whole notion of the tomb of the unknown soldier is interesting and enlightening, too.)

Speaking of Philip, he looked pretty spry for ninety years old. Good for him.

He's still going strong. I was a little worried about his condition, but everyone else seems to think he looked as healthy as a horse.

If Charles and Diana had gotten married at Westminster Abbey instead of St. Paul's, I think we all would have learned about the tradition 30 years ago. I think Fergie's bouquet came back to the abbey the day after the wedding. And I know the Queen saved a wreath from her mother's funeral and had it brought back to the abbey to be placed at the Unknown Soldier's tomb.
