New (final?) Children of the Storm blurb

I'm wondering if they decided to stick with it, because that is the image they used in the excerpt from the book in this month's Star Trek Magazine.

I thought we were going to have a picture of the revamped Voyager this time around?

AFAIK, Mark Rademaker isn't done with the new model yet.
Early arpil saw a WIP shot in his blog, not nearly done.

Revamped? What's different about her? I don't recall reading about any major external changes in Unworthy.

I believe it's coming out of Mark Rademaker for now, maybe the books will acknowledge it later? (Much like the design for the Titan didn't come along until later)

He made a post last year listing his planned changes (link), I think the idea is mostly to make her more slipstream friendly; new longer nacelles, a new deflector, sleeker lines, etc.

I think they did discuss having to make some changes for the slipstream in one of the new books.

Oof. I'll reserve judgment until the final comes out, but I love Voyager just the way she is. The larger shuttlebay I can understand, and maybe the nacelles, but a lot of the rest of the changes don't seem to be necessary (to me), especially painting her hull white.

Could be interesting though.

Wasn't Voyager
half destroyed during the Destiny trilogy? I remember reading something about parts of the hull being gone, a nacelle blown off. That would explain a serieus refit

Going to his blog, I had no idea anyone was even trying to create the fleet in the computer, let alone making changes to Voyager.

And it looks like his science vessels don't look anything like Nova-class vessels.

That's because they're not Nova-class vessels. Aside from Voyager, all the ship designs are new. Appropriate, since Mark designed the Aventine-styled ships as well.

I don't think it's been announced what ship classes the Full Circle fleet will consist of. I've heard rumors of a Nebula-class being in there somewhere, but I was of the impression that the ships had to be narrow for slipstream reasons. Isn't the Nebula about twice as wide as the Vesta?

Confusion has arisen because some of the ship names have been used in the past, ie the Hawking. Aside from Voyager and the Vesta ships though, the books don't state what classes the fleet ships belong to. Hence Mark is designing them from scratch to best accommodate established slipstream requirements.

I've gotta say that the cover (that is not final) is ugly--on par with the rest of the covers in this part of the relaunch. Why not something a bit more compelling?

I think the Voyager covers do look rather plain. Ship only stuff works with Vanguard, just as character images work with Titan, but Voyager needs a cover style to stand out from the crowd.

I agree it's a bit underwhelming, but at least it follows a consistant pattern. Alone, these covers don't look great, but with three of them together I find the conformity looks pleasing.

Because of the time lapse between when we have to set the pages and when they appear on newsstands, we had to work with the prototype cover - I don't know if it has been changed (if so, we'll hopefully have the correct one with the review in issue 35)
