NFL Offseason 2011 - The Longest Yard?

They both look dreadful, Lincecum looks like he belongs at a skate park.

Oh well, if I could throw a ball as well as either of them, maybe I'd grow goofy hair too.

I cannot help but feel the owners owe us a season. After all we paid for their stadium.

^And the better question is will the lead plaintiff, Tom Brady, cut his European-soccer-like locks before then.

To be fair, though, the association could have chosen whichever method it wanted to list the plaintiffs (which is a small group; right now, not every player has been named as a plaintiff in the suit). DeMaurice Smith and his lawyers decided to go alphabetical, with Brady, as he was the most prominent player they could think of to headline the suit (which, in actuality, is Brady et al. v. NFL). It's not as though Tom Brady stood up and said, "Hey, I want to be your point man."

Christian Ponder no. 12 to the Vikings? Really? Oh well, not a Vikings fan. :)
That was a questionable pick. The Vikes do need a QB, but once Locker went (too) early, I though they'd go for a defensive player (especially since the Williams' are now going to have to serve their suspensions). Considering the amount of boos that followed, Ponder wasn't a very popular pick with the fans.

I think the Cardinals done good with Patrick Peterson at #5.

I still think anyone drafting Cam Newton (hi Carolina!) is making a huge, costly, mistake.

I don't think he can cut it in the NFL.

Patriots' draft is always frustrating! Know Bill's picking guys that will probably work out, and getting great value in his trades, but still...

Always see those guys that were attached to you in the mock drafts, still sitting there, then they trade out of the pick. Always at least one WTF pick from him too, but those usually work out (McCourty last year, for example). Know Left Tackle isn't a sexy pick, but pretty sure that'll work out pretty well, and was going to be a need. Just frustrated with not having a pass rush, then having all the big DEs still on the board, and trading out. Now they've got pick 33, and flip a coin whether they pick someone or trade out again :)

There's some speculation that Washington wanted Locker at 10, which is why they traded down once Tennessee drafted him.

It's also being reported that Miami really wanted him too.

Eventually, Belichick will acquire all the draft picks.

Which he'll just trade for all the picks NEXT year, plus a bag of footballs or something.

Just when you think he's in a great spot to use those extra 2nd and 3rd rounders to move up and grab some monster players, he just kicks the can further down the road instead.

Makes sense logically, as by trading your other 1st round pick for a 2nd rounder this year and a 1st next year, you basically get a free 2nd round pick every year, which helps the odds of hitting on a good player, but emotionally, it's frustrating!

I do kind of wish the Pats would man up and draft a big-time first rounder every once in a while, but I understand why they don't. They've been very successful with their draft strategy so far. Apparently they got New Orleans' second and fourth round picks this year and their first round pick next year for that Mark Ingram pick, which would give them two first rounders again next year. I'm sure they'll only end up making an actual pick with one of those.

Didn't see the 4th rounder involved there. Either way, agree that it's decent value, but I'll bet a paycheck that they take one of their 2012 1st rounders (with NE and NO, they should both be 25+ picks) and trade it into 2013. Eventually, you get a bad team to bite on it, and turn it into a top 10 or 15 pick. Just tough to get excited when you know the pick will be bottom of the 1st round, and they won't use it anyway...
