I do find it hillarious that after a month of "Someone Is Going To Die!" hype and Moffat calling people who leak spoilers Sick In The Head the BBC give it away with 18 hours to go...

c. keep it, both trying to be edgy and knowing apparently that a certain contract will be up (dangerous, because if it fails as a narrative future episodes can be diminished as a result)
Either way, not very excited in regards to this. Gimmicky.

I am more than twice that age, and am absolutely enthralled with Doctor Who, with particular emphasis on the current series but a real fond love and nostalgia for much of the old series. There's no permutation of the Doctor I dislike, and stand in absolute wonder and awe at the contributions of each actor, as well as the excitement and cleverness the show has had both in the past, and certainly in the present.
Although I absolutely am enthralled with all three modern Doctors, if I absolutely had to pick one as my favorite then it would be Matt Smith's 11th. His interpretation of the character as well as what the writers of his episodes have brought to the table is simply captivating. I not only learned how to properly tie a bow tie because of his Doctor, I actually wear it out in public on many special events. And yeah, I bought a pair of white converse high tops and a couple pinstripe suits when Tennant was Doctor, and I still love to dress in those. Don't get me started on the gentleman's umbrella I walk around with in imitation of Sylvester McCoy, as well as a white panama hat. And yeah, I had my wife knit me a couple long scarves in honor of you know who. I love Doctor who like crazy! So, having just admitted I like to dress up in the spirit of the Doctor, I'm not sure I "grown up" entirely as your surprisingly mean-spirited comment implies.
Shall we talk companions? I love them all. With one little exception (from the old series) I never saw one I didn't like, and again, this goes for old and new. I absolutely adore Amy AND Rory, loved Donna, will defend Martha till the end of my days (I will admit the character had problems, but this stem mostly from writing) and cried when Rose left.
I really could go on and on. Enthralled might be an understatement. This is the greatest show I've ever seen, and I love watching it, love finding great old classic episodes, love it all. Enthralled, yeah.
Now then, spoiler images were posted, and I peeked. River Song would have warned me against it, and she'd be right, but I am so enthralled with this show I couldn't resist. Oh my! We know what those images depict! Uh-oh!
I have no context to understand these images, except that Moffat PROMISED someone dies for real. I have no idea if these images show us that someone dying for real. I have no idea what happens in the episode, next episode, episode after that, finale, etc.
Being human, I have a reaction. My reaction is: "I just can't imagine this spoiler-thing sticks." Now then, if it doesn't stick, that means they are likely going to timey-wimey rewrite or un-write it. I don't like that sort of thing very much. Should I go so far as to say "Grrrr!"? Doctor Who doesn't often do that, I can't think of it doing it but for a few rare times. Voyager sure freaking did that a lot, and I did not like Voyager very much. So...I commented that if they pursue this timey-wimey un-write, then it would FOR ME possibly (I haven't seen it yet, and it may work...and again, they may not even do it) be lame to un-write something so dramatic. For me. I posted that for me it would be like that.
Also, another option that I mused on as a possible thing is a kind of cop-out, like the former show runner did in a certain episode. I didn't like that moment. I found it undercut the drama dramatically. I hope they don't do that here, although they might do it in a way I like. If they do it in a way I like, then I like the way they did it. If it is like that other way that I didn't like, then I don't really like that particular plot point moment.
Blah, blah, blah. It's a great show. Hope what these spoilers depict will be fun and satisfying like the show is 99% of the time. Hope they are not dissatisfying like the show on the rarest of rare rare instances is. So glad I could come here to have a discussion with others! Yay!
