Maybe a special one off episode bringing back key characters of the show plus The Doctor in a tribute type episode to Sarah Jayne/Lis Sladen but I don't think it could survive as a regular series with a new lead character because I just don't think many of the fanbase would accept it, especially young children who might see Sarah Jayne as some sort of idol/role model.

If they do decide to carry on, at least change the name.

A spin-off of a spin-off?

I was thinking that's probably what they'd do. "Sarah Jane's Gang" or "13 Bannerman Road" would be good alternate titles.

As much as I love Amy & Rory, I do think that Clyde & Rani should be strong contenders for the Eleventh Doctor's next companions; it would be better than trying to continue SJA without Lis Sladen. It would also let Sarah Jane keep having offscreen adventures with a new gang from Bannerman Road. The fact that Daniel Anthony is nearly 24 while Aniji Mohindra is 21 should make it much easier to make a believable time jump from SJA.

The more I think about it, the more I want Clyde and Rani to be The Doctor's next companions. Whether or not Moffat or even BBC go for it (after all they're characters from a children's show and Doctor Who is considered a family show) is another matter entirely.

I don't think chemistry would be a problem; Clyde and Eleven were quite funny when they finally got together. And it would be a great way to celebrate Who's 50th anniversary (which will probably be about the same time they're looking for new companions) by bringing characters from a spin-off to the main show.

A spin-off of a spin-off?

Like Mayberry RFD (following The Andy Griffith Show, which was a spin-off of The Danny Thomas Show) or Conviction (following Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which was a combined spin-off of Law & Order and Homicide: Life on the Street).

Then you have Laverne & Shirley, which kept being called Laverne & Shirley even after Shirley left (and even when Laverne became a minor, perfunctory presence).

Of course, then there are other shows that kept their names even after they stopped making sense. 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter kept going even after the father in question died. By the time Emma Peel joined The Avengers, no one was trying to avenge anything anymore. And shouldn't Smallville have been rebranded Metropolis ages ago?

I can't really see them recasting her because Sladen is and will always be Sarah Jane.
For forty years people said that William Shatner was Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy was Mr. Spock and no one else could play those roles.
Uh, Abrams's Kirk and Spock aren't the same characters from the original Star Trek. They're alternate versions of them and they even point that fact out in the movie. Shatner will always be the Captain Kirk and Nimoy will always be the Mr. Spock. Pine and Quinto are just playing charaters who happen to have the same names.

And for a lot of people, JJ Abrams proved them wrong.
All Abrams proved is that if you slap Star Trek paint on a so-so actiony scifi-ish movie you can make money.

The main reason a lot of people watch the Sarah Jane Adventures is for Sarah Jane played by Sladen. Not Sarah Jane played by someone else.

I wasn't thinking so much the chemistry (which, as you said, is already there) but rather how BBC might be hesitant to shifting characters from a children's show to a family show.

ok two issues with what has been said

re: spin-off of a spin-off , Which show did Sarah Jane Adventures spin-off?, Classic Doctor Who, newWho, K9 & Company? but generally no reason it cant spin-off again.

re: Rani & Cydle on Doctor Who, as much as I would love to see this happen, Cylde & Rani are RTDs characters, I do not think Moffatt would want to do a series with two RTDs created companions in tow.

That said Cylde & the Doctors always worked very well, it would be wonderful to see it, even if it was just the once.

Actually, I took the question to mean if SJA should continue for one more season. Given that she had already filmed 2/3rd of the episodes before she died, I vote yes the show should continue for one more season.

Having Sarah Jane regenerate or being replaced by another actress, imho, is ridiculous. I don't have any issues with either Rani and/or Clyde continuing their adventures with The Doctor on Who. In fact, I think that would make a very nice tribute to Sarah Jane's legacy. (Personally, I think Clyde and The Doctor would make a good show - blokes in time!)

clyde's name spelt wrong.

if you don't know who Clyde is, go and watch Sarah-Jane Adventures. he is quite simply one of the best characters in nuWho's universe. i'd say i want to be Clyde when i grow up, except a) i am grown up (alledgedly) and b)he's younger than me.

Although I bet he has much better luck with the ladies than you ;)

Maybe, though who says he's even into ladies? He's very um "chummy" with Luke, if you haven't noticed. ;)

Ah yes, there is that possibility and talking as a hetro guy, I actually think it would be amazing if Clyde and Luke instead of Clyde and Rami hooked up at some point.

Long live RTD and his gay agenda :shifty:

Can we please try and keep the "Cluke" where it belongs, the Sarah Jane Adventures forum of Gallifrey Base.

Hey, I don't really see it myself, but there's nothing wrong with people talking about it.

Also, this is one pairing where the actual slash mark is necessary; the names to not make good combos.

im just a bit bored of it, and its been nice Luke not being around so much, as it hasnt come up a whole lot.

Clyde patently has the hots for Rani though (ok might be as well as the hots for Luke but I don't see it myself.)

It's probably a matey kind of love, being a man, he would never admit it, but deep down he does.
