What's your mutation?

Hmm, I guess I have a few things that stand out, so to speak.

I have what you might call an Eidetic Memory. Whilst I can't remember everything, I can remember extremely minor, but possibly important details, facts, figures and words. I can remember exactly what was said in some conversations (queue TVH jokes).

I have very flexible feet, I can walk with clawed feet, on the sides or even on my heels, although it looks silly. I can also pick various items up with my feet, sometimes I even turn stuff on or off with my feet or open doors (just depends on the situation). I have a massive hand span, although I suspect thats something to do with having pretty large hands and playing guitar.

I've got quite a high pain threshold, I can take a lot of punishment. The other night for example, One of my Wisdom Teeth was coming through and the pain was excruciating (imagine having a red hot spike shoved into your gum over and over), however I was able to easily shut it out and go on about the rest of the evening, albeit with some discomfort.

My body temperature is slightly below average, making me more susceptible to cold. It's a bitch but at least I know I'm not crazy when I can't handle temperatures others can! :borg:

Hmm, my normal body temperature is lower than average too (usually 97). However, I always feel too hot. That makes sense to me -- if you're body temp is lower, you'd feel warmer, if it is warmer, you'd feel cooler: like when you have a fever you feel cold.

With me it's probably also a combination of that and the fact that I'm about 5 pounds underweight, so I have no insulation. I generate less heat, and I hold onto it less effectively... at least that's how my doctor phrased it.

That's interesting. Is your body temperature higher than normal?
I don't know. I've never felt the need to measure it.
You’ve never had a doctor take your temperature? That seems rather odd.

(BTW, note that I’ve tastefully refrained from making any “hot” jokes.)

Prehensile feet are awesome!

That would make you highly popular in certain circles. ;) ;)

I've never heard of anyone having their temperature taken by their GP, so I don't think it's done much here. GPs here are most interested in measuring blood pressure.

I have Alopecia Areata which sucked out loud in high school until I shaved my head and learned to milk the sexy out of that. But once I was okay with displaying my head, I always had to make sure my head was freshly shaved.

And then I met Ashu on these very boards, and she's my hero. I haven't shaved anything in two weeks because of the NHL playoffs and she still loves me. I still look stupid but I don't mind too much.

Okay, I didn't realise that was unusual  I can do all that with mine too.

I've also recently discovered I'm ambidextrous. I always thought I was right handed. I can write with both hands but there's some things I can only do with my left hand and not the right, like playing pool and the guitar. Some people think that I was born left handed and just never realised. I asked my dad if that was possible and he said 'For normal people, no. For you, yes.' :)

Well I guess that I'm a bit oddly proportioned. I'm pretty tall in the torso and shorter in the legs. Which means trouble in some cars and other modes of transportation for me. Also I've got almost no bum :/

Here it's standard -- temperature, BP, and heart rate are all measured at every visit.

Yeah, I've never gone to the doctor and NOT had my temperature taken.

I had mine done today. Temp: 97.2, heart rate: 55, BP 111/62, A1C: 7.5. Just healthy enough for general anesthesia when I have oral surgery in 3 weeks. You see, I've just learned of another mutation: my lower left wisdom tooth is actually two extra molars fused together, 30% wider than a regular wisdom tooth, with 3 roots instead of two, and impacted. Woo.

See if they'll give it to you in a jar. That would make a nice conversation piece.

It's not THAT weird. Besides, I'd be a horrible girlfriend if I got weirded out by a bit of balding.

^

My wierdness is that I have small feet, but crooked toes. I have to really strain myself to make my toes straight. They just.. wont. It does not really look wierd or anything, but it would be nice if they would be behaving like toes do, i mean, its not like my feet are jumbo and I curled up to fit into a smaller shoe. No, I already have munchkin-feet.
