Good Picard eps?

But a little voice deep down inside of me says any episode where Patrick Stewart has his shirt ripped open is a GOOD Picard episode.:adore:

:techman::beer: Amen! Absolutely!

His shirt isn't actually ripped open here, but it is close enough!

Warmest Wishes,

"Yesterday's Enterprise" is one of my favorite Patrick Stewart episodes. It's very interesting to watch the little changes he makes that make alt-Picard different from the Picard we know.

Basically, there's an incredible weight on him--he's the only one on the ship who knows the war is lost, and six months from now they'll be speaking Klingon in San Francisco. You can see this in his distance from Riker, especially his no-sell of Riker's bragging about the "pasting we gave them at [forget the name of the planet]." Once he talks to Captain Garret, it's clear that there was no Federation victory there.

He's forced to live a lie and it's eating him up. In that one scene in the briefing room he does that grinding his hands together behind his back thing that highlights just how on the brink he is.

Then, in the end, he's faced with the responsibility of making a decision that will send one of his crew to her death--but might save the Federation.

So, yeah, it's a good Picard episode.

Yeah, I love when Picard really loses his temper in an episode. Talking about his frustration in "Yesterday's Episode", his irritation with Guinan's vagueness is one of the highlights. I love when he slams his hands down on the table and my favourite line is when he yells at her, "Not good enough, dammit, NOT GOOD ENOUGH!". "The First Duty" is not a Picard episode, but the way he tells Wesley Crusher off in that episode gives it one of his most shining moments as a character.

gr8 thanks.

i'll re-watch this one.

I'll buoy Measure of a Man and The Perfect Mate for blending Picard's passionate side and sense of duty. Both eps were mentioned up thread and may not seem at first the obvious choices, but they go far to showcase the complexity of the character.

The Drumhead and Coming of Age each show his strength as a leader and catalogue many of his command choices, many of which could be questioned (Picard would bend the rules as much as Kirk in his own way) but ultimately vindicated

What was the episode called that Wesly Crusher was last seen in?
and did Wesly ever come back?
maybe not just in TNG but ever?

It's also got a great bit of Action Picard, when he jumps over the railing to man the tactical console himself, as the Enterprise comes apart at the seams around him.

His last ep was Jouney's End when he went off with The Traveler. As far as ever showing up again, I'm not sure if it is canon, because I'm not sure if deleted scenes can be counted, be he does show up at the Riker/Troi wedding in Nemesis inexplicably wearing a Star Fleet uniform.

does anyone remember the ep where the engineer (not geordie) tells picard that high warp isn't a good idea, but picard orders "warp 8" because a crew man is in trouble or someone is in distress on a far away planet?

thanks

Based on this page, my guess is "Skin of Evil". Look at the dialog for the 5th clip on the page.
