Do you wake up to pee in the middle of the night?

I do drink a lot of water as well. I just think it's bizarre that my body waits until nighttime to process it.

Try to stop drinking about an hour before bed. Make sure you go right before bed too. That might reduce your wake up times at least.

You might be consuming a natural diuretic in your diet. Try to cut down on your caffeine intake. If you are having tons of sex you might also have an irritated urethra. That might make you go once sometime after sex. Since you are so young, you might want to get checked out for diabetes or have a Doctor see if your prostate is swollen.

I have to get up once, usually very early in the morning, to pee. But I also drink a lot of water at night, too.

See, the big problem is that I usually go to the gym a couple hours before I go to bed, so it's kind of hard not to drink something.

If you find that you often wake up at night to go to the bathroom, you may want to talk to your doctor about a sleep study.

That used to happen to me, quite often, at around three o'clock in the morning. Then, last year, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and put on a continuous positive airway pressure machine. The late-night urinating stopped at once.

If I recall what my doctor said, when you sleep, the body suppresses the urge to urinate. But if you suffer from sleep apnea, you're waking up constantly, and the urge returns.

I can't say the last time I had to wake up to pee. I seem to vaguely remember doing it after some evenings of binge drinking, but the recollection is fuzzy at best.

On the other hand, I don't really fall asleep but pass out on the bed, so I might not wake up to pee even if I need to. That's a scary thought. :shifty:

I'll lay in bed for about 2 hours sometimes knowing I really should get up and head to the bathroom. Then I'd be able to come back and drop off, but I don't do it.

There's a great line in Red Dwarf

To Pee or not to Pee - that is the question.

It's about half and half, I guess. Depends on when I go to bed and how much I had to drink before. Typically, I wake up at 5AM to take a leak, if I'm going to wake up at all.

Yes, often. I'm diabetic, though.

And that's down to you running your sugars high.

When mine are low, I almost never need to use the toilet and sometimes forget to have a drink, when they are high, moderately or massively, I drink far more and piss more. Luckily, my control is good and I vary rarely need to go.

Pretty much never. I don't usually drink too soon before going to bed, and I always pee right before I go to bed, so I can usually hold off until morning.

I think my bladder must work 3rd shift or something.

Sounds like a logical explanation. :)

Under normal circumstances -- in other words, before my surgery -- I get up to pee almost every night, sometimes more than once. It's not just a male thing.

What’s worse is when you wake up at 3 am to pee, then realize you’re going to be there a while to do “everything else.” NOW you’re wide awake.

Yeah, I do. Something about getting older, I understand. :(

Exactly. I do that twice every night since I turned 40. My 41st birthday is Sunday.

Also, I have cerebral palsy, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. And I drink alot of water all day long.

Despite having a couple of beers last night (right up till bed-time) I didn't have to go during the night -and I got my full ten hours uninterrupted :)

When did they talk about Captain Kirks hair on Red Dwarf?

One of these days, I am going to sleep for an entire night without waking up to go to the bathroom. I don't know what it is about me, but I wake up 2-3 times a night to pee. I can go the entire day without having to go to the bathroom, but as soon as I get in bed, it's almost impossible for me to stay there without needing to get up.

I think my bladder must work 3rd shift or something.

Get your kidneys checked. I had that same problem and it turned out to be one of the symptoms of my kidney failure.

The past couple of years I've been waking up an hour or two early because I have to pee. On top of that, it seems I have to pee every couple of hours during the day.

I drink 4.5-8 pints of water a day though, so I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not.
