How do you rate them?

For me

1-ENT-Broken Bow
2-TOS-The Cage
3-DS9-Emissary
4-VOY-Caretaker
5-TNG-Encounter at Farpoint
6-TOS-Where No Man Has Gone Before

The Cage
Where No Man Has Gone Before
Emissary
Encounter at Farpoint
Broken Bow
Caretaker

Man, I was ready to say, "Tom Paris, then Will Riker."

Anyway --

1. Where No Man Has Gone Before (Shouty Spock!)
2. Emissary
3. Caretaker
4. The Cage (More Shouty Spock!)
5. Encounter at Farpoint
6. Broken Bow

I feel like 1 & 2 could switch depending on how I feel that day, but the others are pretty set. As well, placing Broken Bow at the bottom isn't to say it's a bad episode -- for the most part, I remember liking it. Continuity gaffes aside, I thought it was pretty serviceable as far as pilots go, but it was the episodes after it that foretold the doom of Enterprise.

1. The Cage - Simply the best!!
2. Broken Bow -Great intro to the whole Star Trek thing.
3. Where No Man Has Gone Before - Kirk kicks ass and rips his shirt.
4. Emissary - This was pretty awesome!!
5. Caretaker - Banjo Man?? Really??
6. Encounter at Farpoint - Pretty awful.

1- TOS: The Cage
2- VOY: Caretaker
3- DS9: Emissary
4- TOS: WNMHGB
5- ENT: Broken Bow
6- TNG: Encounter At Farpoint.

1. "Emissary" - first by a mile. Does a good job of establishing characters, setting, the Bajoran/Cardassian conflict, etc., while at the same time being just a good sci-fi story.
2. "The Cage" - presented a fascinating narrative and several interesting characters (who didn't stick around except for Spock, unfortunately).
3. "Caretaker" - a good story overall in concept, but uneven in execution, with some glaring logic holes. More good than bad, though. As for the characters: about half of them make a good first impression, the others... eh.
4. "Encounter at Farpoint" - this episode is horribly dated by when it was made; the production values are not very good, the music is cheesy, some of the dialog is way over the top (especially with this version of Troi, who feels everything she senses, which made every scene with her almost embarrasing to watch), etc. But at it's core, there is still a fairly interesting story here, and most of the characters come off well.
5. "Where No Man Has Gone Before" - decent story, but just kind of... there. Nothing about it jumped out at me, unlike with "The Cage". An ok pilot, but nothing special.
6. "Broken Bow" - bloody AWFUL. Last place by two miles. Almost ok story riddled with HUGE plot holes, and not a single main character that rises above "They're... tolerable, I guess." If I could go back in time and tell myself not to bother watching this, I would.

The Cage - just for starting it all, and still eerily haunting and effective after all those decades: esp the music, matte paintings, Talosians and Vina's plight. I think the most human/moving of all the pilots (Don't regard WNMHGB as pilot although technically is)

Of the other pilots, ironically don't think any of them particularly strong but...

Caretaker - at least it was exciting and gave VOY probably the best start of all shows...
The Emissary - watched recently and even now has a kinda 'wtf' quality...but nice TNG/DS9 hook-up :) (better than Farpoint's TOS/TNG...)
Farpoint - even more 'wtf?', but marginally better than...
Broken Bow - put me off ENT originally but really liked series once I finally got to watch it

I'll say:

1. Where No Man Has Gone Before
2. Emissary
3. Caretaker
4. The Cage
5. Broken Bow
6. Encounter at Fairpoint

Mine are...

1. Emissary
2. The Cage
3. Caretaker
4. Where No Man Has Gone Before
5. Broken Bow
6. Encounter at Fairpoint

Emissary, at least for me, knocked it out of the park. I feel almost the same way about The Cage but that episode's themes didn't personally draw me in as much as Sisko's "I exist here..." did. Even after almost twenty years, Emissary still resonates with me.

On the opposite end, I think Encounter at Farpoint was a complete disaster. The story was a mess and loaded with empty fillers. (The pilot was only supposed to be an hour but haphazardly expanded last minute into two.) The only thing that kept me interested (at the wide-eyed age of 11) was the new ship and Data. It is the only pilot I will skip when I rewatch a Trek series.

My vote goes to "Where No Man Has Gone Before." It is pure classic science fiction.

1. Where No Man Has Gone Before
2. The Cage
3. Caretaker
4. Broken Bow
5. Encounter At Farpoint
6. Emissary

As a pilot episode, an introduction to the cast and to the type of show we'll be tuning into each week:

1. Emissary
2. Caretaker
3. WNMHGB
4. Encounter at Farpoint

Just as a show, relative to the rest of each series.

1. WNMHGB
2. Emissary
3. Caretaker
4. Encounter at Farpoint

(Havent seen Broken Bow)

To me, it must be a good introduction to the show, but also be able to stand on it's own.

1. Where No Man Has Gone Before
2. Emissary
3. The Cage
4. Broken Bow
5. Encounter at Farpoint
6. Caretaker
