Survivor: Redemption Island Discussion (Spoilers)

Yeah, rob throwing the clue into the volcano was awesome.

My mom/SiL were asking whether or not he looked at it at some point of camera just to make sure it wasn't a note about something else. I suspect that he did off-camera at some point.

So are they going to bring the Redemption Island guy back when they merge (In this case probably Matt?) That's what I was thinking, as it would be the most fair to everyone else.

That's what I'm assuming. After the next duel, there will be twelve players left, enough for a nine-person jury and a final three.

Good episode, Matt really might be Jesus. Then again, Grant is pretty unreal at challenges too.

I do find it strange that none of the girls are saying "shouldn't there be an immunity idol clue?" after winning all those challenges, but it seems like they're content to not play the game and just chill out. Maybe they're saying something we don't see in the final edited version, who knows. At the end of the day though, they're just Rob's sheep and he's the shepard.

Phillip is exactly what Rob said, completely unaware. Oblivious. He is however an interesting player when the merge happens - he'll turn to Zaptera faster than you can say "red undies" which might actually entice David to stay with his tribe.

I'm liking this season so far, I have to say.

Whichever tribe Dave ends up siding with, he'd be on the bottom of the hierarchy. Same goes for Phillip, although folks might want to keep him around as a lightening rod. And if the Redemption Isle player (which I assume will be Matt) returns to the game at the merge, that could influence whether or not anyone flips.

No way, Phillip is hilarious.

Matt would have been fine if he hadn't told Rob that he'd thought about flipping and voting against him. If not for that, I think Rob would have been willing to bring him back into the fold until the Ometepe alliance voted out a couple more Zapateras.

It's also incredible Rob is still in the game this long you'd think he'd have been voted off after the merge, I wonder what everyone's deal with Matt is? And, yeah, Philip makes me laugh but he also makes me roll my eyes and it seems like he's no pleasure to live with.

So how long is this Redemption Island cycle? Matt could possibly make it through most of the game without ever having to be really "a part" of it.

^I look at it as Matt is being a part of the game, only in a different way. I mean the game is about Outwit, Outlast and Outplay and in a sense, Matt has done all three. Still, it sucks he got voted out again, but Phillip is funny has heck.

More like two out of three. Outlast and Outplay, sure.

But Outwit? Not so much. He's been blindsided twice . . . by the same person!

Yeah it was a bit of a stretch for outwit, but two out of three ain't bad.

The really amusing part is, at the end, he decided to stick with his original alliance, even though they all voted him out once already.

I wonder what would have happened if he did flip and voted for Grant, forcing a revote (except for him and Grant). Would Andrea have then flipped and voted Grant, maybe?

Matt had a golden ticket and he blew it even after he could see things were changing. I hope he realizes now that Rob is the devil and not god.

I have a feeling Andrea wouldn't have switched her vote. She seemed to be backing away from an alliance with Matt. Still, Matt obviously shouldn't have trusted his old tribe. But apparently that's what God told him to do (maybe God's just yanking his chain).

Had Matt voted with Zapata, he would at least have some allies even if he was still voted off on a tie-breaker. Now, he's kind of screwed even if he does make it back from Redemption Island.

You have to feel sorry for Matt, the guy games like a champion only to be screwed over again and forced in to solitude. Still though, he made his own bed - going to Rob and telling him what was happening with the Zaptera tribe was suicidal. He also brought Andrea's name in to it when he didn't have to which put her on the spot, so I can see why she ended up voting for him.

Flushing out Hair Sweater's immunity idol was pretty great too. I don't recall Jeff mentioning it at the end, but that'll go back in to play right?

I thought it was a great twist to keep Redemtion Island running and having someone be allowed to come back in to the game at an even later stage.

Great episode.
