Christians - Does This Upset You?

Meh... while I do find a fair amount of advertising crap out there, some of which honestly is offensive to me as a Christian, this.... it's just tacky and juvenile. Really not worth the effort to be offended by it.

Incidentally, hot cross buns are quite common - and very tasty - in the US.

I'm still wondering who thought "Hell Pizza" was a good name.

I mean--what's their slogan? "Hell Pizza: Desperate to Stand Out"?

Probably the same guy who started a video store in our neighborhood a few years back. The store was called "Extreme Video". He also had a repair shop, called "Extreme Auto Repair" and "Extreme Auto Sales". He wanted to start a convenience store and call it "The Extreme Convenience Shop", I kid you not. Moral of the story? Some people just really suck with names.

I would be more likely to order from "Extreme Pizza" than "Hell Pizza."

To me, "Extreme Pizza" suggests pizzas overloaded with toppings and mountains of melted cheese. "We put more toppings and cheese on one slice than the others put on their whole pies! EXTREME PIZZA!"

"Hell Pizza," by contrast, suggests--I don't know. Pizza like a burning coal in your gut? Pizza so loaded with hot peppers that it burns your lips--at both ends?

And I notice that nobody seems to worry that Hell Pizza might be offending Satanists.

It's disgusting the way they commercialize everything these days. :(

this is where i stand as well.

It will work.

It will piss some people off, everything pisses someone off. However it got the people talking.

Umm...I think the joke is the connection between Jesus being a bit like the buns in terms of being "for a limited time." Because he was killed and all.

I don't think the connection is about "cross" buns at all.

Meh, it's a lame joke, not offensive.

I'm in the U.S.- I always eat hot cross buns for breakfast on Good Friday. That's my family tradition, anyway.

That was what I had thought it was, too, and I found it very stupid, tasteless, and unnecessary.

Some people have no sense of humor. Luckily, others do. In any case, religion shouldn't have any special protections, so there's no reason for the ads to be discontinued.
I believe that by law, New Zealand is a Christian nation.
No, that's incorrect - while a majority of the population do identify as Christian, New Zealand has no state religion. The practice of Christian and non-Christian religions are equally protected under NZ law.

I stand corrected. I had thought that as a former land of the British Empire that NZ's local stripe of Anglicanism would have been the State religion. Further research indicates that I am wrong.

I'm quite surprised no one has come up with a theme change for hot cross buns before, it does seem kind of obvious. I just ate one today (not from this place) and I'm planning on buying a few more soon.

"If it is decided that the advertisement is offensive, it is removed.
Mrs Souter says the process takes about 25 days."

HAHAHAHA and then easter will be over.

It seems that there are three Hell Pizzas in Australia, all located in Queensland.

It seems that Hell Pizza will deliver during a zombie attack. Here is a Hell Pizza interactive video. It takes a while to get through. You have to make a choice what to do.
