camelot vs merlin

As I recall, it was told from the POV of Arthur's court jester . . .
Dagonet? Or did you make up one?

I've been considering a novel centered on Dagonet. I wrote an outline for an original Merlin novel and submitted it, entirely on a lark, and got a very nice rejection letter for the trouble; there was nothing wrong with the story (the editor actually liked it), but they simply weren't doing original Merlin novels for the moment. In thinking about how to de-Merlin-ify this outline, I thought about subbing Dagonet for Merlin and Gawain for Arthur. Unfortunately, I've never gotten back to the outline.

You know, Merlin really needs to tell Arthur that Morganna is evil now. She's only trying to kill him every other week!

At least Gwen has finally caught on . . . .

He'd also have to tell Arthur how he knows which would let Arthur know that Merlin is a wizard in training.

True, that's a problem. But the current status quo, in which Morgana routinely tries to get Arthur killed every other week, is untenable. Plus, Morgana doesn't know Merlin is a wizard yet, so he could just pretend to have stumbled onto the truth by mortal means--like Gwen did.

Even if they don't tell Uther, Arthur would still be able to watch his back . . . .

I don't know how Morgana expects to keep her plans secret with that evil grin permanently plastered on her face. You would think people would find it distracting by now.
A couple weeks ago I looked ahead on wikipedia,
and it looks like Morgana's secret won't be a secret much longer.

that would be so FRANK'N AWESOME if they did merlin novels . maybe a prelude trilogy dealing with uther .

CAMELOT begins tonight 2 episodes " homecoming and the sword and the crown "
homecoming I believe was the sneak peak episode . but it starts tonight . yes , yes , about damn time to .

Just some quick thoughts after the two hour premiere of Camelot. I kind of didn't really like it much.

While I've been complaining Merlin isn't heavy enough, this is needs to lighten up some
Camelot has great realistic locations and photography, not Merlin's kiddie magic, but it could use some more fantasy
Camelot has better women in Morgan, Igraine, and Guinevere; but Merlin has a better Merlin, Arthur, Uther, and Gwaine.

Maybe if they could somehow combine these two shows? I'm all for mature sex or even 5th century nudity, but was there 5 sex scenes in the first 2 hours of Camelot. Is that too much? And why did Camelot also have to have a boyish Arthur? No, we haven't seen that before.

Eh, perhaps I'm more leniant to Merlin's flaws because it is supposed to be a family friendly show. When a show gets risky perhaps for the sake of being risky like Camelot seemed so far, I don't know. I probably won't tune in regularly. Maybe catch the series later, perhaps after Merlin is finished.

It's like there should be one inbetween combo show or Smallville Merlin graduates to raunchy Camelot. Sex aside, Camelot's Arthur and Merlin really got on my nerves. Eva Green was great though.

watched the two hour pilot it was fantastic . I loved how they put sword and stone bit in there I thought it was awesome . I mean I love the movie excalibur but the sword and the stone from camelot was a great sceane .

episode " the coming of arthur -part 1" :

this was a great episode lost of action and build up . is this the season finale of season 3 ? part 2 will be this friday .

Yep, this is the season finale.

And Morgana's treachery is finally out of the closet, thank goodness!

Although we still have at least one more shoe left to drop: when does Morgana figure out that Merlin is a magic-user, too?

I thought she already knew that , from season 2.
from the previews it looks like we get the round table and arthur gets excalibur agin.
and is lancelot coming in for the season finale. I mean we got gwain and gwen bro.

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

what did you think of camelot's pilot mr. cox^?

arthurian legends rule . I would love to see one written by stephen king .

I can't determine which of these shows I like less.

Camelot is ruined by atrocious casting of the main characters, while Merlin is too family friendly (read: silly) for my likes.

.

I don't think so. As far as I know, neither Morgause or Morgana have figured out Merlin's secret yet. They know that he's onto them and that he's foiled their plans in the past, but not exactly how . . . .

They're idiots.

They must know that there's a pretty powerful mage somewhere in Uthurs court giving them the run around... Unless they think that "gods" are playing silly buggers behind the scenes.

Anthony is too big. He's the only cast member with any US recognition (John Hurt doesn't count.) that they would be fools to dispose of him even as year after year it becomes just a little more unbelievable to the plot that his character persists.

Head may leave but he's not going to be pushed.

God god. What if after he's killed the lad comes back as a ghost?

Haunt the shit out of Merlin.

Anthony Head was interviewed during the promo/launch of season two about how long he expected to stay with the series. At the time, he said he didn't expect to be with the show for its entire run.

Julian Jones has a plan for the series mapped out. I thought it was a four year plan, but it seems now to be a five year plan.

well that's a given since he's uther and all . HE's destined to die . and this show is styled after (smallville) .

Is it me or is there little or next to no buzz about Camelot? I know a lot of folks don't have Starz or may be waiting for the netflix delay, but by contrast, Game of Thrones has several threads across this board, and seems to have a bigger fan and print presence. Granted that is largely due to the books, not so many pop reading Arthurian folks around anymore I suppose, but does this show that Camelot has actually been kind of poorly received overall?

I agree I'd love to see some sort of happy medium. Merlin needs to darken and mature and Camelot needs to lighten up and tone it down. You can't cover up the bad acting of the male leads with Eva Green's boobs. Lovely though she may be.

I watched the first hour on Starz website the other day, and I really enjoyed it. Although I was surprised by the lack of Eva Green nakednes. There was the bit where she was with Arthur's enemy, but you couldn't really see much. Not that I would need that to enjoy the show, it's just that the way everyone's been talking about her I expected to see a lot more skin. Now Guinevere on the other hand...
