Let's talk sandwiches

The Sephiroth

Seph's specially seasoned, 24 hour fall apart pot roast & potatoes with cheddar cheese & a splash of vinegar on one of those huge baked-in cheddar roll things

I was once inspired to make myself a triple fried-egg chilli chutney sandwich, after watching the episode of Red Dwarf it's mentioned in. It is indeed pretty damn awesome. You'll die from a grease overdose if you have more than three in one lifetime, however. I think I'm on two now.
Always wanted to try one. It's a state of the art sarnie.

:D

It's the state of the floor I'm worried about...

Me, my favorite sammich is a Katz's Deli cheesesteak.

I never bought a sandwich as good as what I will make. I stopped buying sandwiches years ago because of this. I just like being able to make it exactly to taste which usually involves copious amounts of cracked pepper or mustard spread like mortar.

I like my sandwiches simple. Tonight I'm having one with sliced tomatoes, black pepper, and slices of hard boiled egg. Add a touch of mayo ... yum!

Reubens are my favorite sandwiches.

Corned beef+saurkraut+thousand island dressing on rye bread=WIN!
It's funny, I normally hate kraut, and detest Thousand Island dressing, but put them together with corned beef and rye, and they're delicious.

Fuck Katz's Deli. Everyone knows real cheesesteaks come from Philadelphia.

Best cheesesteak I've ever had came from a Greek food truck that used to park in front of the Hagerty Library on Drexel University's campus (the corner of 33rd and Market). Might still be there, but I haven't been down that way in over four years. They make damn good gyros, too; the tzatziki sauce is homemade. :techman:

I've been mulling over the sandwich question and I remember that one of my favourite sandwiches is hummous with grated carrot and watercress. I also really love a salad sandwich with salad cream, and also the old fashioned jam (jelly) butty. A jam butty has to be made with old fashioned white sliced bread and butter. :adore:

We have a Hoagie Huts nearby. They make a great cheese, steak & bacon hoagie....I could go for one of those right about now

I make a fried egg sandwich that's my personal favorite. Lightly toasted & buttered bread with a good amount of Hellmans mayo plus 1 fried egg with shredded cheddar/jack cheese melted on it.
I'm havin' a couple of those in a few hours when I get home from work. It's my reward for getting through another week without killing anybody ;)

I'm partial to hoages. Ham, or Muskeet turkey, or chicken, with sharp cheddar cheese on french bread.

And I'm hungry now.

I'm a fan of the pork tenderloin sandwich.

I've been eating less sandwiches lately since discovering how much I like Gyros.

Corned beef, Swiss cheese, Romaine lettuce, a slathering of cucumber dill sauce, and fresh tomatoes, on an oil and oregano brushed, lightly toasted buttered french roll.

Tomorrow night I'm making a Grilled Veggie Sandwich, recipe courtesy of Bobby Flay:
Grilled eggplant, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, and arugula. Include some garlic mayo (I like to add a little horseradish) on a toasted french roll.

It's great the day you make it, but even better the next day.

That sounds awesome! :techman: I had to look up what arugula is. We call it rocket in our part of the world. I am so going to try this. I think I am going to try it with pesto, though. :mallory:

Rocket, eh? Interesting name for a vegetable. I love the pesto idea, I may have to do that too.
The US Food Network web site has a three minute video of Bobby Flay making the sandwich, If I knew how to imbed video to these things, I'd do it.

The best sandwich I've ever had are probably my mom's partner's pulled pork sandwiches. Just outstanding. My second favorite are steak sandwiches with caramelized onions. I'm also partial to a good Tuscany ham sandwich.
