Pirates of the Caribbean 4 News

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

I like Will & Elizabeth, but I really think the third movie gave them a really good end to their story, and it would really ruin it if they brought them back. I could see maybe a cameo somewhere, but not a major role.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

I liked Will & Elizabeth, but I don't think they needed to return (at least not as major characters) after the first movie.

I do agree that their story is over, so I was honestly hoping that the franchise would similarly be over. Of course, I'm not the huge fan of Johnny Depp that a lot of people seem to do be, so I'm not really pining for more Captain Jack Sparrow on the screen.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

Nice Blackbeard poster.
I'm giving serious consideration to seeing this movie.
Despite owning all 3 of the prior films I don't rewatch the last two. I've seen them about twice but Black Pearl remains fun each time. Part of that is the W&E stories.
I'm glad they aren't back, imo they drug the sequels down.
If OST can recapture even half the fun that COTBP was it'll be a hit for me on an entertainment level.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

They just released another new trailer, which shows more mermaids, some more Blackbeard and a little more of the story. This is IMO another really good trailer that helps to continue to raise my anticipation for the movie.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

I couldn't get the trailer to load on that site but I watched it over at YouTube: I'm also even more excited about the film. I still don't care what naysayers say, all three films are wonderful and so damn FUN, which really is the whole point. I can tell every one is having fun in this one, too, which only rises my anticipation.

Best line: "Captain, I wish to report a mutiny. I can name fingers and point names." :guffaw:

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

Oh yeah, I think that is already one of my favorite Jack Sparrow lines ever. Oh, and I love when Teague asks Jack if his face looks like it's been to the Fountain of Youth.:guffaw:

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

This looks evern better now. What's the Brit expression? Ah yes: I'm gagging for this.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

It seems Ian McShane's big role in the film is to point or swing his damn sword at or toward the camera so that people get their money's worth in paying the additional charge for 3-D

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

Ok, I have a potentially pervy question. Has any been able to tell if the mermaid are topless? Because it almost looks that way from what we've seen of them, and that kind of suprises me since this is mostly likely going to be a fairly tame PG-13. I'm assuming if this is the case that they'll just have long hair over their breasts or something when they get out of the water above their shoulders.

It looks that way to me, and yes, I expect they will be discreetly shot so that their breasts are always blocked by hair or other things.

Bare breasts do occasionally show up in PG13 films (i.e. Titanic, The Fifth Element, Dreamscape), but I don't expect to see them in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Also in Doc Hollywood.

Yeah, I expect that too. This isn't the Little Mermaid which has the mermaid getting a G rated bra.:rommie:

Future Pirates of the Caribbean Sequels to be Standalone Films

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was widely thought to be the beginning of a second trilogy featuring the misadventures of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. While future Pirates films are already in the works, they won't be attached to their predecessors as Pirates 2 and 3 where.

In speaking with USA Today at CinemaCon, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall said that audiences in test screenings found the "fresh and new" story was the aspect they liked most. Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer plan to continue this "fresh and new" story idea into Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and any additional Pirates films.

I think this a great news. I always thought DMC and AWE would have better better as standalones like the Indiana Jones sequels. When they are standalone the movies have a good chance at being better movies.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

Good call. DMC and AWE both suffered from stretching out a story that really only needed one film.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

While I disagree on opinions in regard to Dead's Man Chest and At World's End (I love both and the latter is my favorite of the series), I do like their approach of "fresh and new" each time around. I look for plenty of Jack Sparrow and Company in the future. :D

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

Can't wait for Pirates of the Caribbean 12 - So Very Tired.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Trailer released

I'm with EMH. I don't quite understand the general feeling regarding DMC and AWE and consider the last my favorite. The more involved story in those two appealed to me more than the more standalone story of the first movie. That being said, I'm not especially enthused for the new flick but I'm willing to wait-and-see.
