Met a Doctor Who writer today...

Which was quite cool. Basically went to a Brit Sci-fi day held at the National Space Centre in Leicester. It was a fairly small event, but one of the guests was James Moran, who wrote The Fires of Pompeii, and also the Torchwood episode, Sleeper. Seems like a really nice bloke, and managed to ask him a question during the Q&A, then have a mini conversation with him afterwards about what was the most horrible death in Spooks  (Anyone who's a fan of the series would probably conclude the exact same death we seemed to agree on!)

Also had Matt Irvine there who did VFX on classic Who I think (although he seemed to have some Nu-Who props too) Quite a lot of Daleks there but not sure any of them were official BBC props...the K-9 was genuine however!

That blue Dalek looks cool and I like the lights under the skirt makes them look like they're floating almost.

The deep fat fryer?

Yup ;)

Yeah it was a really good effect. There was quite a selection and you had ones like that and another one where the operator inside needed someone to actually direct him along...couldn't quite fathom which were occupied and which were remote controlled. I did make the mistake of being in one's way and he said "Move!" in a very Dalek manner! And there was me in my Victor of the Daleks t-shirt as well!

YEAH! That is actually a cool innovation for a Dalek prop. I hope the production team notices this.

A blue RTDalek? Interesting, around the time that Moffat started with that whole "New Paradigm represents an officer class, not a replacement" thing, someone said they saw an image of RTDaleks done in New Paradigm colours. Though they also said they weren't sure if it was a legitimate picture or photoshopped. Well, now we know there is a legitimately blue RTDalek at the very least.

That blue Dalek is pretty cool but does poor K-9 have a layer of dust on him? Oh for shame...
Oh...That wasn't deliberate? I thought that was K-9 (V2.0 - IE: president Romana's, not Leela's), being taken outta the box after Invasion of Time?

I think the blue Dalek might be a fan Dalek, doubt it was official somehow.

Bob, well the chip fryer death was really, really nasty...although they have come close at times, and a few things were as disturbing if not as physically horrible.

Even if the blue Dalek is a fan Dalek, it's much, much better than the Paradigm Daleks. Here's hoping we see something like that when they come back.

After all, we've gotta sell more toys, right? :D

Maybe it's the Scientist Dalek's "troops". Moffat did say the paradigm were more of an officer class, or something to that effect.

Didn't Dalek Sec debut at some public events before he appeared in the series?
