get off michelle Obama

First Lady Teacake would like you all to join in her campaign, a campaign for better literature and to encourage excellent female role models! First Lady Teacake will be touring schools in the promotion of this worthy cause with the full approval of President Teacake (he knows what will be missing from the Presidential Marriage if he doesn't). For more information on this exciting campaign and to help all Americans participate see the following website:

First Lady Teacake would like to request that the throwing of teacakes during her speeches on this topic, whether as kudos or otherwise, should stop immediately. First Lady Teacake's Dior shifts are getting difficult to clean due to buttery residue.

Dear First Lady, why do you hate America?

ps please stop trying to take away my freedoms.
1. Nancy Reagan told kids to stop doing drugs.
2. Michelle Obama is asking families to eat healthier. You're still free to eat like a fat cow...grazing for hours in front of Thursday Night Raw on fried chicken and a two liter of soda. She's just asking you not to because it makes you fat and a burden onto society. You'd be better off if you just did the drugs Nancy told you not to do. At least your cholesterol wouldn't be through the roof. You might actually be fun to hang out with. No law or regulation has been made on a federal level mandating that you eat 3 servings of vegetables a day.

So yes. The Obamas are taking away your freedom to be a tub of lard by simply asking you to do something that's been common sense for over 50 years. I guess if she said that smoking was bad for you you'd rail on too...seeing as how that makes zero sense. I guess that's the Republican's MO now. Rail about the administration even if they're doing what Ronald Christ did 30 years ago.

Wait wait wait.... aren't the liberals supposed to be anti-gov't and anti-establishment? aren't the conservatives supposed to be for the absolute rule of law and siding with the man in power?

What the hell is going on here? Both left and the rights are being hypocrites right now, and that's why I can't stand to listen to any of these types of political bickering. Its never really about the issue. Its always about inciting crowd support with whatever means necessary.

I will say that the Republicans got an head start on this and Democrats are playing catch up. But Democrats are catching up quick. Thank you, Nancy Pelosi.

"Ronald Christ"- gotta remember that one.

Mrs. Obama isn't taking away anyone's freedoms, and does not hate America. She loves America and wants us to be healthier. What's wrong with encouraging families to exercise and eat better?

^:guffaw:

In a country where obesity is an epidemic, why would anyone disagree with First Lady Michelle Obama encouraging people to exercise and eat properly? It is only logical.:vulcan:

Republicans tell the American people what they should do all the time, why not the First Lady?

Becuase anything that Obama's agree with, the Republicans like kids do the opposite becuase thats the way they operate.

Well actually its the opposite. Republicans are anti-governement and big establishment(unless that buisness pays their campaigns). Liberals believe in a strong(small), responsible government. But Conservatives on all sides are pretty much the same.

Not to mention that aside from suggesting that one should give not being a reprehensible fat-ass a try, she's not empowered to actually do anything about it. So if you somehow are bafflingly against what she's proposing you really shouldn't give a damn anyway.

She's a cheerleader who's championing a laudable goal. Why anybody in conservative quarters would waste any time trying to discredit her speaks volumes about intelligence of their audience.

I agree it wasn't meant toward anybody so its perfectly ok. Especially since being fat is an epidemic in America, not a disease, a way of life. Only in America, yep that song fits for this topic.

At least the title of this thread is not "get off, michelle Obama".

On a serious note, the First Lady's detractors are doing more harm to this country, by undermining her message of good health, than she could possibly do by encouraging it (which is zip).

And yeah, I still remember Just Say No. My criticism of the "Just Say No" campaign was simply that it was ineffectual in its naïveté, not that it was an inappropriate aim for Ms. Reagan to publicly undertake. Even as a "liberal", in air quotes, I have great respect for Ms. Reagan in attempting her campaign nevertheless, as I believe there are serious dangers to using drugs, including and perhaps even overall especially legal drugs. The criticism I would have offered Ms. Reagan, given the opportunity, would have been constructive to point out and clarify this with the aim of improving her campaign, not vitriolic with the aim of undermining or eliminating it.

I dunno, I think "Just Say No." was effectual because it got the word out, and it was so pervasive that it was in everyone's minds. This was in a time when drugs were rarely talked about with kids (at least that's the way I remember it growing up in the 80s), so just getting people to think about it was a big step.

If Michelle Obama wants to get to that level, she needs to step up her game quite a bit. But then again, there's so many other information campaigns going on right now that do the same thing, she kind of gets lost in the noise.

And now 30 years later kids don't use drugs anymore?

And rates of drug use in children haven't stayed the same?

And we don't have more than 2 million Americans in jail because of drug offenses?

If that's a success, what's a failure look like?

And how many times was it reported that Bush was "at his ranch, clearing brush"? Quite a few, as I recall.

In the past 35 years, the President that averaged the most days off per year was George W Bush.
Followed by Ronald Reagan.
Followed by George HW Bush.
Followed by Barack Obama.
Followed by Jimmy Carter.
Followed by Bill Clinton.

As far as numbers go...

With 9 months left in office, George Bush had spent all or part of 879 days at or on his way to Camp David and his Crawford Ranch. And that was the point were he surpassed Reagan.

By contrast, Bill Clinton took 174 days off.

So, yeah. This is another interesting issue for the right wing to take against Obama.
