Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

^ I like that.

As for the one in Spiff's link, it's good too, but the dark blue would probably come off as black in some scenes.

You know, I don't like that red star in the middle of the breast plate. Someone could pry it off with a knife when she's sleeping and sell it on eBay. :vulcan:

The 'just add same color pants as was shorts' to the classic look works just fine. Not making the boots red is is regular for WW is a mistake. It looks like she is wearing those "sleep booties" you'd put a toddler in for bedtime.

I agree the costume looks to "over the counter", the shine is what I think is giving me that impression. If she is fighting any at night then any glare will give her position away. It needs to more muted.

On the plus side she looks hot in the outfit and maybe we'll get some cheesy beach scene where in a fight her pants get ripped at the knees causing her to rid herself of the material forming a 'shorts' look for at least that one episode.

I've been a fan of Adrianne Palicki since Friday Night Lights. Was glad to see her get this role.

As for the costume, I can definitely understand wanting to moderinize the classic look. Fighting crime in bare legs/skirt is impractical. That being said, it looks like an adult Halloween costume. They could have done a better job. And of course, they deemphasize the patriotism angle of the costume because Hollywood hates America.

David E. Kelley producing this show isn't a plus. He's out of his element and will likely make WW a political show.

I hope the producers are just testing people's reactions. The costume is not horrible, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Hollywood does not hate America.

Hollywood likes to sell it's product, including television, overseas. Overseas hates America.

Hollywood is making a business decision.

Ol' Darth Pipes pretty much a broken record aint he?;)

But speaking of the the American flag and superhero costumes. Why do they alway get the blue wrong? The blue is a darker blue. than what shows up on these costumes.

I'm sure that, like Dean Cain's Superman costume in Lois and Clark, the Wonder Woman costume will have modifications over the course of the first few episodes as the designers and producers decide what works and doesn't.

I have a feeling that the outfit is supposed to be a bit cheesy, in an ironic fashion, as I doubt this is going to be a straight take on the material.

^^
The plot is described as "a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life."

I have this feeling when she's in costume, you're supposed to roll with it but not completely buy into it. Like it's OK as long as it's a gimmick but if it were played completely serious it would be considered uncool. I'm probably not explaining that well but that's the vibe I'm getting, that they want a sort of hipster vibe to it, to get under the nerd radar of mainstream audiences.

Keep in mind everyone that every time EW gets a photo of a superhero in costume, it's always an early version, and usually it's crappy, photoshopped and poorly lit, so that they can get a lot of attention and sales. I really hate the way they operate, especially with sites like CNN linked to them.

I think I hear what you are saying. It's the detached hipster ironic approach. But I don't think those that are in charge even know what that is, and I honestly don't think they even know how to achieve that.

Nor do I actually think that's a great approach. How do you get mileage (as in seasons) of material by being ironically detached, holding your nose at your own source material?

Though, honestly, I don't think that's what they are going for. I think they are honestly trying to "update" and make her hip (not hipster) for the kids.

^^ Mind you, I'm going off of precious little information, I guess we'll see as this project comes along just what it will be.

I've often wondered about that too. Could it be because a true Navy Blue might end up filming as black?

On another note, I really hope they keep the "spinning" thing for her transformation into WW. I know it's just an invention by the 70s show, but I've always that it was strangely exciting to watch for some reason.

I think a huge problem with the photo is her face. With no disrespect to the actress, her overly chemical looking hair, pasty, rosy cheek pancake makeup, painted-on lips, don't do anything good for her already oval and relatively flat facial structure. It unfortunately makes her look like someone done up for a porn film... and combined with the cartoonish PVC/pleather costume, looks like something out of a wonder woman porn parody film.

A more appropriate looking actress in the same outfit could pull it off; a slightly older, more severe looking Diana might create the attitude of "I dare you to mock my outfit. My capacity to beat you down is quite real." In fact, IMHO this is one of the few ways to handle traditional and literal costumes in live action; it is the attitude and appearance of the wearer that puts the right spin on the suit they are wearing.

It's weird, but Elizabeth Hurley, who is cast as the villain in this series, looks far more like a "Diana", due to her jawline, and yes, even her age.
