Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

This is a television show folks, not a theatrical movie. They probably designed the costume to reflect that fact. I'm sure if this was a movie they would have gone for something more traditional.

That looks way better. Just makes me think more they should have gone straight up with the current comic book design without any alterations.

JMS is off Wonder Woman, rumours are that he might have been fired, which means that the story about the new Wonder Woman acting out as a noob after the worlds been mind wiped about her is probably going to go byebye which means that her "pants" are going to go bye bye too... Or at least logically should do if the classic Diana/Wonder Woman "Star spangled thong" paradigm is back.

I read recently that JMS is off both Wonder Woman and Superman so that he could concentrate on writing volume 2 of Superman: Earth One.
Oh and on topic, I agree that the colour-tweaked image of Wonder Woman looks much better.

You're absolutely right and the story is continuing to use JMS's premise. As for her costume Didio had this to say at the recent con DC is at:
Speaking of the revised Wonder Woman: Will she keep her pants on? DiDio: Figuratively or literally? Literally, yes.

Yes, as has been mentioned countless times in other threads JMS chose to step down from both books due to wanting to concentrate on volume two of Superman: Earth One. Both books though are under new writers that are continuing his story. Phil Hester on WW and Chris Roberson (I think that's his name) on Superman with the ongoing "Grounded" arc.

Here's a fan's color/texture tweak that looks somewhat better.

The tweaked version reminds me of the muted colours of the Superman outfit for Superman Returns. Funny how that costume got such a lot of hatred for being dull and dark, yet the WW one is getting slated for being too bright and shiny!

I don't mind the bright colours, but I hate the fabrics. It's completely indistinguishable from a cheap fancy dress costume made of PVC and plastic.

I'm also going to have to presume that part of Kelley's super-awesome reinvention of Wonder Woman - to go along with her reported icecream slumber parties and crying over boys - is that she doesn't actually do any physically exerting heroing? I'm perfectly happy to handwave sexiness in a crime-fighting costume. But you cannot run in heels, a strapless push-up top and pants made from a skin-tight fabric that doesn't breathe. Seriously - I try to imagine her chasing villains and I just see myself as a teenager flailing to keep my balance and decency while tottering towards a taxi after a night out.

(I think the makeup is a bad choice too, and ads to the tacky Halloween costume look, but YMMV)

I think the costume looks fine:), though I dont think the picture does it justice. I reserve my final judgement until I see it in action.
All in all, Palicki looks very well in the part:cool:
I am looking forward of seeing her in action, too:techman:
I am still nervous about the series..but I am also very excited that Wonder Woman is returning to the small screen(fangasm!)
We dont really have much superheroines on big or small screen..so this is all good:)

I am with you in the sentiment. Also, folks should keep in mind that this is a pilot episode. Assuming that the series gets picked up, the producers could do a lot of tweaking to this costume. It is much too early to think that this is the final product that will reach the TV screen.

But that doesn't actually address my point. If the costume is meant to look good under different lighting or with a more interesting background, why didn't they do just that?

I like the costume and I'm totally with you on this point. I think there is another issue to consider, which is that maybe the photographer they got just didn't do a good job with this photo. You know you have this ultra shiny costume material, why light it so that you practically have white light reflecting off of it like a traffic sign? I agree they should have shot the photo in a setting/lighting set up that made it look better.

In retrospect, after looking at the photo a bit more, I do have to agree I would have preferred red boots to contrast against the blue pants.

I dunno, I think it looks okay. If it's successful, there's nothing to stop them changing it a wee bit and if the show fails, we've lost nothing.

Not really.

First off: different characters, different costumes.

In addition, there's a middle ground in everything you know.

The Superman Returns costume looked dull and dirty. The WW costume looks too shiny and fake.

Dislike of one extreme doesn't mean we have to accept the opposite, but equally unattractive, extreme.

^ Don't remember saying we did nor that I either hated or liked either costume.

And yes, I'm aware that they are different characters and costumes, but thank you for pointing that out for those of us who may be in fact blind. The amended costume reminded me of the SR suit and I just think the contrasting reactions are amusing, is all.

Not only does she look like a ho, she's unpatriotic! :rommie:
I noticed the lack of stars too, and wondered if it was meant to downplay the any perceived "American-ness" in the same vein as the "truth, justice and all that other stuff" line from Superman Returns. That or maybe they really wanted to go with pants and rightfully figured that it would look odd if it were sprinkled with stars. At least they have a good compromise with a strip of stars down the sides.

This is what they should have gone for.
That looks awful. The reason I gave this outfit a thumbs up is because despite the Halloween costume look, which I agree it has, it at least stays true to the spirit of Wonder Woman. I was afraid we'd get something too radically different that wasn't really Wonder Woman.

No, this is what they should be using.

This is Wonder Woman. Accept no substitutes.
Agreed, but I'm happy with what we got. If they want to change it back to that though, I'm all for it.

Just make it out of expensive leather and metal, rather than cheap vinyl and plastic.
Agreed. Looking over the costume carefully, I thought... Why not better material like leather? And why not metal? The lipstick should go too. Or at least make it look less loud and obvious. That stuff'll smear in a fight. I was also wondering why they didn't go with red boots.

That looks WAY better, although the pants look black rather than dark blue.

As for the actress...I dunno. If she shines in performance then she'll suit the role and few won't think she doesn't look the part. In the still I think she has something of a baby face, but onscreen in action who knows. Michael Keaton (Batman) and Daniel Craig (Bond) were each roundly criticized for their respective roles and yet they turned out fine.
