Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

Hurley has the wrong accent for Wonder Woman.

What exactly does a Themysciran accent sound like, anyway?

If I remember right, it's supposed to sound like a cross between Greek and French. Thought balloon text from an old issue somewhere. I don't remember which but I think it was during Perez' run.

Oh, and I think both costume and actress are frakin' awful!

The series premise blows chunks too.

Just my $0.02

If anything, the costume Erica Durance wore on Smallville was actually better.

I think that's actually a VERY solid design, which could even work on the big screen. They found a way to make the costume sexy while avoiding the cheesy stripper look of the comics.

And no question that Durance looks about 1000 times hotter and sexier in the costume than Palicki.

Most superhero pre-production stills look terrible. Like, when Thor pictures started coming out, I thought it was gonna be as bad as Power Rangers. With the right lighting, this could work. Personally I've never liked that the bracelets are silver, though.

I'm going to not join the hate bandwagon and actually say I like it. The thing is, everyone's saying how shiny it is, and it is but under a very particular light (in a photo studio on a white background). I'm curious to see what this is going to look like in daylight or in a nighttime setting. It's also going to be interesting too see how well the costume "moves" with her when she's fighting or running.

And going back to what a couple of people have said, she could have the perfect costume but if she can't act the part it won't mean squat. The writing and the acting is the part I'm most nervous about.

Well, yeah, for a feature film like Thor, the costumes are reworked after production, with detail, wear and a metallic glint added to replace the plastic, dull look of the costumes the actors actually wear on the set. This is obvious if you compare the early photos from the set with the commercials or trailer. Partly this is due to metal costumes causing glare and unwanted reflections during filming, I think.

I'm not sure if anything similar would likely be done for a tv show, though. I'm curious if anyone knows more about this. I don't want to leap to conclusions about the costume, but it does look cheap in that photo.

Paradise Island is a strange place in the comics. Sometimes they have advanced tech, and sometimes they're savages stuck in the bronze age.

I look at that costume and I just know that the gods were like the Greys from Stargate and the Themyscirians have a couple working saucers and all their so called "magic" is just reverse engineered offworld tech.

No, this is what they should be using.

This is Wonder Woman. Accept no substitutes.

Just make it out of expensive leather and metal, rather than cheap vinyl and plastic. Light it correctly, add a cgi glow to the lasso and you're golden. No pun intended ... well ... not much of one anyway. ;)

The question is: If the problem is the lighting, why didn't they light it better for this still? They CHOSE this background, this lighting. This isn't some fan snapped pic from the set, this is a picture from a controlled environment.

I understand why you're saying, I shouldn't necessarily judge from this picture, BUT, if the producers can't be bothered to make it look good, doesn't that speak to their attention to detail? To how much they care?

They released this picture, if they could have made it look better, why didn't they? Why do you want to start off with people making fun of one the most important parts of your show?

THAT'S what truly bothers me.

My wife thinks the actress is better suited to play Supergirl instead of Wonder Woman. I think I'm gonna like her as Wonder Woman. :techman:

I guess it's possible they released this to gauge fan response, but if that's what studios went by, nothing would ever get made..

But that doesn't actually address my point. If the costume is meant to look good under different lighting or with a more interesting background, why didn't they do just that?

If you're releasing it to gauge fan response, why are you NOT putting it out how you want it to look? Why present something rushed or not up to quality and use it to test fan reaction?

Even the LASSO look cheap.

Wow, the suit looks like a cheap Halloween costume.

Batman looked badass in the Burton/Nolan movies and Superman was perfect in his movies, but they can't seem to get Wonder Woman right.
