Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced (3/17/11--Aronofsky quits)

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced (3/17/11--Aronofsky qui

I agree that it's gonna depend on the direct they choose to replace him but this film still has the potential to be good. I still have hope, it's just lessened to various degrees. I personally am really hoping that Clint Mansell sticks with the project. I was really excited to hear his score for the film.

^ What's that? Being optimistic or not having a knee jerk reaction? LOL.

This is not good news. Could this be another Fox fuck up in the making?

^ To be fair, as I said earlier, I can't see how any studio could hope to make a movie in Japan right now, let alone a huge, big-budget tentpole movie. How do you scout for locations, accommodation, transport in a country still suffering the problems Japan has had within the last week or so?

Yeah, with what's going on in Japan right now, this isn't all that surprising. It's probably for the better.

I keep forgetting about Japan. This makes me look like a douchebag lol. You guys are of course correct.

EW is saying that Fox has no replacement lined up for Aaranofsky and seems to be in no hurry to move forward with it:

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/03/18/the-wolverine-no-director-replacement-darren-aronofsky/
This article is full of mostly commentary and speculation from an unnamed source implying they are in "no hurry to move forward".

Then the last bit of the piece reads like this:
In fact, given that so many key elements are already in place, the source says it’s possible that a new director could ramp up production on The Wolverine as early as this summer.
So anywhere between June and August they still could get started. Maybe the area they plan to shoot in Japan could be repaired enough by then. That would be 5 months, maybe if just focus on the one port they intend to shoot was done.

Anyway I say the best bet to know if this project is still viable over the next 5-6 months is if Hugh Jackman is still on his massive protein intake and workout schedule. That will be the most telling. If he's no longer bulking up the project has been shelved, if not it's going forward soon enough.

^ Wouldn't you hate to be stuffing several 1,000 calories down your throat and working out like a maniac every day for months, only for it all to be in vain?! (If it turns out to be in vain, that is)

I think something like this happened before but I can't name the movie

Robert Rodriguez or Ron Howard, anyone? Sounds as though this movie might need a lot of green-screening... :p

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced (3/17/11--Aronofsky qui

Robert Rodriguez would actually be an intriguing option since he was once attached to Fox's "Deadpool" movie.

That'd be awesome. Or maybe Cary Fukunaga? Fantastic visual sense.
