Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced (3/17/11--Aronofsky quits)

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced

^Daredevil reboot, apparently.

FOX still owns the movie rights to Daredevil. If want their original choice director back, they can postpone Daredevil to put Slade back on Wolverine.

It probably would have been best not to ask Aronofsky in the first place. The guy ends up leaving every superhero movie he is rumored/reported to be involved in: Batman: Year One, Robocop, Superman and Wolverine.

Not a bad idea.

And hey, I'd probably be useless for a long time after breaking up with Rachel Weisz also. :p

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced

They wouldn't delay "Daredevil" just find a new director if Slade indeed left.

Are People still hungry for Hugh Jackman Wolverine? Or Wolverine in general for now?

X-Men 1 & 2 were pretty Woverine heavy, then his appearances in X-Men 3, Origins: Wolverine, and wasn't there also an Animated feature around that era?

I'm even surprised so many are so anxious for a Spiderman reboot so quickly.

People were excited because of Aronofsky's involvement as director and the fact that he's worked with Hugh Jackman before. Chris McQuarrie's script was reported to have adapted Miller and Claremont's classic Wolverine story and the Silver Samurai is supposed to be the villain. This still has the potential to be a great movie but now perhaps less enthusiasm. We'll see who they get to replace Aronofsky.

Could Christopher McQuarrie direct his own script? Of course, he only has one directorial title under his belt and the reception was mixed -- Way of the Gun.

I don't think Fox would trust "The Wolverine" to someone like McQuarrie, particularly when Jackman has given interviews that they're finally gonna get things right. That being said I don't think Slade is the right person either.

There was a Wolverine segment that made up half of the direct-to-DVD movie Hulk Vs. (the other half being Hulk vs. Thor), but that's all I'm aware of that could be called an animated feature. There was, however, the TV series Wolverine and the X-Men a season or two ago, and a Wolverine anime series that began airing in Japan recently.

This sucks. Was looking forward to this due to the main fact Aronofsky was involved. There are still plenty of good directors out there.

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced

If they had told me that the film was being canceled or delayed because of the earthquake, I'd understand. But Aronofsky knew he'd have to spend time in japan to make the film...
I don't get it

Maybe he just doesn't want to come out and say it's because of the earthquake and now nuclear plant scare. He's got a 5 year old son with Rachel Weise. 5 years old is old enough to know what's going on in the world, but not the nuts and buts and behind things.

Maybe the kid was freaking out because he didn't want Daddy going to where a nuclear meltdown might be happening. Or maybe Aronofsky had planned to bring his son over for some visits there, but he doesn't want to bring him there now.
That's a bullshit excuse if that's the reason.
Simply don't shoot it in Japan. Film it in another location or on a set.

I think It might have something to do with Disney.

Ohh FOX, when will you learn. Darrens coming off back to back Oscar noms and you still don't trust him enough to give him full control of your movie. Not like we'd see Yuriko going ass to ass with another chick for some smack in this movie too.

So all we have left to hope for is "First Class"

Re: Aronofsky's Wolverine film title announced (3/17/11--Aronofsky qui

Until they announce a suitable replacement for Darren, then yes.

Speaking of "First Class", that mutant, Angel, isn't topless in that scene with Magneto and Xavier. It's a dress with an open back.
