Disappointed by my facebook 'friends'

I'd only give close friends any money if they solicited such via Facebook. And I don't think I have any on there.

I make it a point to turn down any request that requires more than minimal effort unless it is specifically asked. Generic spam gets treated as generic spam. And, to be honest, this is the case both for close friends and anyone else I'm friends with on facebook.

To the OP: What did you expect in this day and age?

We all have dreams, but making them happen on the expense of other people, isn't likely to work

I had a friend who, just last week, used his status to ask the women on his friends list for casual sex, but said he would settle for a blow job.

I think he had as much luck as the OP.

Some friends, huh?

I am sure that if I used the profile picture of a pretty young girl I would have got the money. And then arrested for fraud.

Send your money straight to them, they need it. Fighting Tiger future fund - I donated a bit, I want Richmond to be around for a long, long time so we can beat you again and again.
One day - hopefully before I die - Richmond will rise from the ashes like a phoenix and once again be the great team which they used to be.

This is how felt! That one day like a Phoenix my team would RISE from the ashes! And my team was far more ashy and fail than Richmond! AND THAT DAY CAME.. rise and rise and rise they did..! ALMOST TO THE TOP! But then, on the very cusp of phoenix like victory, a victory SO SWEET they reached a new high, one I never dreamed would be theirs. They are now our nations No. 1 sex scandal team. THEY RULE THE HERALD SUN with their dick photos all over the internet!

I hope someday Richmond will experience this kind of sweet victory too.

My late father was an one-eyed St Kilda fan. I remember how happy he was when they won the premiership back in 1966. I wish they had won it one more time before he died.

I have been a Richmond supporter since I was about 10 years old. In that time Richmond has won the premiership 4 times. Even though they haven't won it in the last 30 years I an unwavering in my support for them.

When I first moved to this country a couple decades ago I was constantly asked what team I barracked for. This was more important to people than anything else apparently. Having grown up in a sports phobic family I was completely at a loss for how to respond to this--no one had EVER asked me a question about sports until I moved here. So I asked who was the worst, the suckiest, the bottom of the ladder team ever and I was told "St. Kilda". I decided that is who I would barrack for because they would be out of the running very early on and I would never have to hear about them again. Over the years I became fond of my underdog team in an odd way and was rather shocked as in the last few years they improved and eventually made it to the Grand Final. Yes for a brief period of time I knew what it was like to partake of that idiot pride in a sports team I had eschewed for so long. But I got my comeuppance.

Karma is a sweet thing. We haven't forgotten about John Greening.

But this thread is not supposed to be an AFL love in, it's a facebook hateathon.

I'm sure neither is true.

Also, what do you do, go friend random people on the internet? How is it that the people who friend you think you're a girl?

I had a similar experience recently when I wanted to start a cult.

I don't think giving up all of one's possessions, money, and future income in exchange for spiritual fulfillment and a sense of belonging is too much to ask.

I want....no NEED to belong!

Do I actually have to give you my possessions or can I just sell them and give you a check?
That'll work. I was just going to sell them anyway. This saves me time and effort.

Also, later this week, I'm flying to Florida to, among other things, sleep with JuanBolio's girlfriend. If everyone could chip in so I can take her out to dinner first, it would be appreciated.

I'm a little puzzled as to why one would ask for money on a social network. Friends on these networks are nothing more than numbers who mainly care about superficiality. Very rarely is anyone ever really close enough that they could ask for money from others. It's not surprising you didn't get anything.

Look at it this way- if your facebook friends all sent you $10, then ten other people would get the exact same idea and that would be $100. It sets a precedent. This is why I don't give change to panhandlers.

Yeah, he solicited casual acquaintances for money for his personal gain without giving them anything in return. I'm hoping it's some kind of very esoteric satire.

Agreed.

After I read the OP's post, I thought, "This is beyond tacky." I've never solicited money from friends/family/acquaintance/random strangers so I could go to some fancy dinner/Las Vegas vacation/cruise/trip that I can't afford to pay for by myself.
