Private Benjamin being remade.....

Why? Private Benjamin isn't brilliant and it was made a long time ago.

The "remake craze" just gave us a superior version of True Grit after all.

Given the current situation of our armed forces this ought to be quite...different. Faris is a good choice...who'll play the part Eileen Brennan did, though?

They should remake Bird On A Wire with Anne Hathaway and Charlie Sheen. ;)

Jane Lynch, of course!:)

True, but for every True Grit you get twenty thousand bazillion gagillions of shitfests.

This is no more or less true of remakes than of "original" films. Studios obviously like remakes because (among other reasons) at least they know that the movie has already worked once.

why ? god why?! the movie and the tv series were totaly frakn bad . let the remake craze die . this will kill it hopefully.

I still can't get over the fact that they remade Ben Hurr. I mean they already made it in 1925, why make it again? This remake craze has got to end.

   :techman:

I don't have a problem with some remakes...but they're also remaking The Bodyguard and Soapdish...both from 1991. That's a little soon.

And yes, True Grit 2010 was amazing.

It seems as if twenty years is considered more than long enough to wait before remaking a film, which makes some sense - the target audience for theatricial films is young enough not to clearly remember most older films.

The Bodyguard is another example of a so-so film - Whitney Houston didn't exactly launch an unstoppable film career there - that might be made again to good effect.

soapdish was a tv series right ? are they remaking it into another tv series or turning it into a movie ? Becuase that would be a little different . the only remakes I am looking forward to right now are (excalibur and wonder woman ) .

The sarcasm would work better if Ben Hur from 1925 wasn't a black and white silent movie. ;)

The fun thing is: all they'd need to do is to call is "Private Benjamin - In 3D" and suddenly most of the folks would be even more against it than I am right now. :D

Actually, if you had just written the first half of the post, I would have suggested making it in 3D to get around your criticism.
