83rd Annual Academy Awards Show: Discussion/Commentary

Yeah, well. I don't agree. Swank bores the SHIT out of me, except for Million Dollar Baby, her only really good role.

Yay! Colin Firth wins!!!

I still remember Swank from 90210. ;)

BTW, love the Sherlock quote. Really wish they would hurry up with the new season.

She was good in American Beauty. A well-acted movie with even better cinematography but completly overrated as far as I'm concerned. My pick for Best Picture that year wasn't even nominated, Being John Malkovich.

I think winning in American Beauty would have been hard. She was greatly over the top in a couple scenes there most notably her adulterous sex scene.

Oh yeah, that scene was really over-the-top.

Interesting...five candidates for Best Picture and the last one in alphabetical order begins with the letter F.

Granted, I don't know how Academy movies are nominated. If they're nominated based on the entire movie's performance (in the Emmy's it normally one episode) or just one scene.

Wow, what a speech, humble and heartfelt. I loved Colin before but I think I may just positively adore him now. :weep:

Staten Island...my old hometown. Let me tell you something, NOTHING good has ever come out of Staten Island. Thankfully, I was born in Brooklyn so I don't count. ;)

Now that people upthread mentioned it, it is beginning to get distracting how Franco never looks at Hathaway...

Anyway, good to see Natalie win and nice speech. Would've preferred I think Eisenberg for Actor, but props to Firth.

Definitely liked how Bridges and Bullock intro'd each nominee.

They'll also join a list that includes The Greatest Show on Earth. Best Picture is not all it's cracked up to be.

I just came from the www.oscar.com website and no one have a perfect score.

I'm hoping that Social Network will win Best Picture, but it wouldn't suprise me if The King's Speech wins.
